jayhawk Results are really good. Compared to kit lens I like much more sharper image. And less distortions. Plus f/2.8 is usable on it wich will be handy (low light and night + tripod will be good.).

P.S. I think I'll buy it before July the 11. So I hope (I need some training though) you will see some quality automotive stuff from me. I'm planning to go to "Autoexotica" (Shots from AE'07). It seems to be a good show with great cars, babes, and plenty of drag racing xD

The 18-50 is a good lens. The similarities are really greater than the differences. Each lens have its own advantages (the biggest really being the extra millimeter of WA the Tamron delivers), but really, they're both good.
