Is it just me or do those wheels seem a bit big?
And while we're on the subject of SAE, Oregon State (where I went to school) took first and third? in Baja.

Depends really. Some teams go for smaller wheels, others choose bigger ones. They're only 13 in though

Usually a Kawasaki or Yamaha motorcycle engine with a limited air intake I believe.

599cc Yamaha R6 engine with a 20mm restrictor limiting power to approx 80bhp. Gears are standard R6 box with six speeds and no reverse. The gear lever is on the left just next to the steering wheel. You can see the guys hand on it in the first picture
