How much are you willing to spend? Gaming? Workstation? Internets?
Vipers PC is a good base to start from for a gaming rig.

ROFL!!! That actually made me laugh out loud!

I think you mis-interpreted the question, this is in the photography thread, so I assume you're asking about automotive rigs, ie the things you use to 'hang' cameras off a car to take pics of them moving.

Go to DieselStation's forums, there's plenty of posts on this, just do a few searches. I used all the info on there to make my one. images/smilies/smile.gif

Despite the hilariousness of the first post, the question is till relevant to you, how much do you want to spend?

BlitzR, + rep for making me laugh out loud images/smilies/smile.gif

As for money, whatever it takes. However, I have good hands and full access to a welders work shop. So, I will be able to fabricate it myself I think.

I have 3 of these in my shed:

http://img357.imageshack.us/img357/8184/cinemasupplies200385167zv3.jpg

All of them are brand new images/smilies/smile.gif

I also have a magic arm and a superclamp. I will however, probably need to get some more superclamps.

I had a look on Dieselstation and on google, but i can't find one picture of a rig. I really don't know what sort of design to use.

*edit - FG member 'Cosworth' seems to have very good design on his rig. Maybe he might be willing to help me out.

You wont find any from the top photographers as rigs are a bit of a top secret! Mine and Paddy's (Cosworth) are pretty similar, just a couple of suction mounts and a big pole! I fabricated the pole sections myself, they are1 metre sections that 'fit together', so I can take it apart between use.
There's not a lot to it tbh, the tricky part for me was trying to find a strong way of attaching the pole to the suction mounts, and small enough so I dont have as much to do in photoshop!

Top photographers probably don't do much photoshopping so their rigs are really complicated and elaborate to fit outside the frame as much as possible.

Most use the under the car method, so there is very little to do images/smilies/smile.gif
Although it is a lot riskier, but many have switched to the bolt on method, as opposed to magnets.

Would you or Paddy be willing to share some pictures?images/smilies/smile.gif

If not, and I can understand that, maybe you could help with a few questions I have:

1. Are you using aluminum? If yes, is it square or circle?
2. What diameter should I use?
3. What's the best way of connecting the suction cups I have to the pole?
4. How are the 1 meter poles connected?
5. How many suction cups do you use?

Thanks and a + rep to Shadowness for helping out images/smilies/smile.gif

Cosworth, those photos were a big help.

Thanks and + rep.

I have a question about your rig. It's hard so see in the photo as the res is so low. But, did you connect 2 superclamps to each other, and then one to the little pole that's on the suction cup and one to the big pole to which the camera is attached? If so, that would give fast and easy height adjust ability the my design below doesn't have. However, that leads to another question - How did you connect the two superclamps to one and other?

I marked what I'm talking about in red:

http://img501.imageshack.us/img501/6729/secretweaponnex4.jpg

Anyway, I did a quick drawing in PS of a design I thought up. What do you think? Paddy's Idea of connecting two superclamps to each other and then to each pole is a great idea (If that is what he did), as it gives the option of height adjustment that my design lacks. Where can I make improvements? Is this the sort of rig you guys use? What do you think?

http://img129.imageshack.us/img129/1571/rigzx2.jpg

Thanks.
