Default Iceland - Prius by Rebekka

Don't think these have been posted before, well I couldn't find them.

Those familar with Flickr may have seen the stunning Rebekka Guðleifsdóttir from Iceland before. images/smilies/wub.gif

In 2006 she did a Prius ad campaign.

Think the Prius never looked better images/smilies/love.gif

0% of those photos make me interested in a Prius, I'd go as far as to say the way she took them did a fantastic job of actually drawing attention away from the car, kinda the opposite of what you'd want in a car ad.

She's a great photographer in her certain style, but cars apparently aren't her thing. There's probably a reason that nobody else got her to do another ad campaign.

If you want solid auto photography, Andy Wee and Easton Chang are still tops in my books.

Yuk - Prius. Worst, ugliest and most useless car - ever! Thought out by a manufacturer that likes to appear 'green' and then sells monster pick ups in the US of A that make any X5 or M Class appear like Greenpeace company cars in comparison. Terrible horrible car I wouldn't even vomit on, and no icelandic beauty will change that. Besides, there's only one icelandic artist - you know, the one that can't sing and looks as if she is suffering from constant wardrobe malfunction, but still somehow manages to be pretty good in some strange way - maybe if them two co-operate and leave out the car?

I completely agree with him, 75% of her decent shots are self-portraits. She takes the most self-portraits of any photographer I've ever seen.

Yeah, can't say it's car I'm looking at in those shots. Hell, looking like that I'm glad she does self-portraits.

In the case of the Prius, less is more, saving the planet from the sight of it.

What the commentary doesn't say is that's a bucket of 70% nitric acid, and this is the "before" photo. "After" contains a rather less healthy-looking Prius and Rebekka looking very pleased with herself (twice) at the wreckage of the Hollywoodhippymobile.

What's so bad in depicting a bit of an atmosphere associated with (beautiful female) people using a car?

Why does everything HAVE to be at-first-sight?

I guess nobody would complain if these were photos of a highly photoshopped Prius under some unnaturally
sexy light, with a Pam Anderson, wrestlers and batman ( with steel nipples ). That'd probably appeal to the Xbox360 generation.

Seems that natural women having fun is boring, bring on the age of photoshopped silicone boobs and steroid enhanced beefcakes.

So a highly Photoshopped picture of a Pruis and an Icelandic girl is nice, while a highly Photoshopped picture of a Prius with other things is not? What?

Spoiler Text: (Click here to toggle display)

Rebekka Photoshopped those photos. All of them.

But, hey, I'll provide an example of what I consider to be good, eye-catching automotive photography.

Of course a photographer will use photoshop, I'm a graphic designer, and I've been using it since 1997.
It's a tool...

But, why do you think that a photography MUST be something that's been set-up for hours,
and then processed through photoshop for hours?

Why such negativity towards simple, natural snapshots featuring beautiful natural women,
natural lighting and found surroundings? Is reality so ugly to you? Why must car photography feature an autmobile in the center?
IMHO Rebekka's photos nicely depict a couple of girls having fun, using the car, the surroundings and the camera,
it's a series of photos showing a car as a great thing to use for enjoying life... not the car being a super
