This place is bacoming a fast favorite for gear reviews:

http://www.fredmiranda.com/reviews/

The reviews have an informal, forum type of style to them, but then, they're reviews from people who paid to use the gear, not from people who were paid to use it.

Just had to mention, www.dpreview.com started up a lens review section, where every lens is subjected to the same laboratory test and the review features a very handy tool that shows the lens's strengths and weaknesses across the range (both focal and f/).
