| been thinking about trying light room, only it wont work, something somewhere on my mac is borked and thus LR just doesnt work. it loads up, says there was a module error and then thats it..the library module is knackered and i cant seem to import photos anyway before i attempt to put effort into fixing this malady is LR actually any good? i heard it was great if you had tons of photos (which i do) that all need pretty much the same types of touch ups (which i do) so that you could get through things with relative ease. i have about 800 photos and ill be damned if im gonna do them by hand in photoshop. i know they all require the same type and level of adjustment (ish) i dont think they are that close that i can just apply blanket adjusments to them all. but CS2's adjusment controls arent exactly swift in use (which puts me off) so Light Room Thoughts? | |

| Gulf Livery Rules | Light Room is a lot better than Photoshop. It's completely photo oriented and it has "intelligent" adjustments for exposure, contrast, etc. It also acts as a library tool, but it is a bit slow on my pc. Then again, i still have a stone age single core cpu. |

| doesnt matter now, because for some inane reason it wont even install on my mac hard drive (the trial version), says theres nothing to install (and no im not trying to install over the top of an older install) i did successfully install it to a external hard drive, but still get the same "error when changing modules" shit that i got the first 5 times i tried to make it work. | |

the shit box i moved onto after that.... well..... lol, i think that had more to do with the sheer poor quality of the hardware. the cpu HSF was caked in shit, the thermoelectric cooler was more useless than a chocolate teapot and the PSU (a £23 600watter.... lol) was on its knees. the only good bit of hardware in it was my trsuty 9500pro which came out of an older gaming rig. still i do perfer OS X to XP now, i like it a lot, but i still need to use windows for things like VB and CAD. back to LR though..... how am i gonna make this thing work? | ||

Car: IS250 RWD Rep Power: 86 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I found LR to be much easier to learn and use than Apple's Aperture which I also tried. The environment is very logically set up so you learn quickly. I was totally lost in Aperture. Oh, and IceBone, you need to shut the fuck up about Apple vs. Windows, especially as I'm willing to bet you've never even used a Mac. Seriously, what the hell kind of self-satisfaction do you get with this rabid hatred for Mac? Let people use whatever they want and stop nagging like a schoolgirl. |

I'm not biased either way, I just hate it when people keep reiterating a fact without having complete knowledge. When someone like me or otispunkmeyer say Macs have certain advantages it's because we've owned/used both products. |

| old porsches do run! | I have mixed feelings about Lightroom. It's very nice for working with large batches of photos at once, but it misses some key elements I want. Like lack of a resize tool. Only way to resize is when you "export" the photo. But now you can't apply sharpening, which is what you wanna do AFTER the resizing. And you can't script it, amount of sharpening is individual for every photo. So essentially you have to run this whole bunch through photoshop again. |
