Default My land in Northern Wisconsin

I took these photos in October 2006, I just recently found them on my hard drive and touched them up.
It is 120 acres, butted up against my cousins 600 acres in Northwest Wisconsin, in area known as coulee country, in a county with less than 50000 people, of which about half are Amish. And yes, there are horse apples all over the roads there.
Oh and the roads! Since this is rolling hill country, some the best roads I have ever driven are hear, rivaling the Blue Ridge Trail and Tail Of The Dragon.

I suppose I should have a giude to the pictures.

1) Looking at my 60 acres of field, to the extreme right is my 60 acres of wood.

2)Again the woods.

3)Looking out of my cousins land on to mine.

4)My woods.

5)Wifes little Scion.

The rest are inside my cousins woods, the last one is the service road going to his field.

You got a beautiful piece of land there! Do you plan on moving up there eventually?

Probably not, since the largest city is 2,000 people. Right now, the government is paying me not farm on the field, with that money I pay the taxes and what is left over I pay a farmer to mow the field once a year; if I built a structure there, taxes would go up.

Sweet, your own private rally course.
Looks like nice countryside, and the neighbours are nice people (the Amish, not your brother).

I always wanted a massive piece of land, preferably on the coast.
Strangely enough we just bough a tiny 1brm apartment.

Oh, well.

I myself have pondered doing a rally course; get four dirt tires and rims, chain them to a tree and tear ass around.

There is crime up there...sorta. The Amish teenagers sometimes break into my uncles cabin, play with the radio and other electronic devices, then leave the cabin without stealing anything. No kidding.

On a darker note, some asshole dumped the remains of their meth lab on my property, burning a hole a foot deep into it. images/smilies/mad.gif A few farmers grow marijuana up there, meth labs are a new and scary idea.

I see, well maybe you will change your mind when you get older images/smilies/smile.gif When I saw the thread title and looked at the pictures I suddenly thought about this great song by one of my favorites, John Mellencamp. Damn, I wish I had 100 acres in the midwest... images/smilies/cry.gif

Living in the middle of nowhere sucks ass and is highly overrated. You gotta drive like an hour just to get food, gas, etc. and if you have a fire, need an ambulance, etc. it's just as long.

That is what helicopters are for.

My mate from Queensland lived on a sheep station and flew in to town (OK it was a small plane not a chopper) once an month, and no 1 priority was to fill up the chest freezer with tinnies.

It would be lovely! Living in a asphalt jungle is highly overrated too, I use every opportunity I get to escape from the city. No, I'm telling you, 100 acres and a pick-up truck and I am all set!

Speaking of big farms in Oz, we have the biggest in the world, larger than Belgium and Israel at 6million acres.

Meth labs owners = scary
Marijuana growers = potential friends

Kids breaking in to listen to the radio = hilarious

You should be able to fit the rims in your car, but I didn't realise you didn't live there when I posted and that you couldn't build any structure (mind you I'm sure you could hide a lock up shed somewhere).

Northwest Wisc? Chequamegon National Forest area just south of Ashland? My uncle had a log house in that area, used to go to Ashland/Bayfield to see relatives a lot when my dad was still alive. Such a beautiful area of Wisconsin...though I do despise those cheeseheads...

Beautiful land Jay, my friend would go absolutely bonkers if he had access to something like that, huge paintball freak.

Personally I'd keep it the way it is, and build a huge cabin later along in the years!

I'd build a classic style Old West log fort and when society starts to fall apart, you allow all Finalgear.com members who can make it come and join your army in which you take over the planet with.

Thats what I'd do.
