Default Nikon to launch new 10.2 MP compact DSLR

Quote:
Nikon Japan has today started a teaser campaign promoting a new compact 10.2 megapixel digital SLR which will be announced in 20 days, we can only guess that this would be the natural successor to the D70/D70s. The teaser gives away few details other than the fact that the camera will have 10.2 megapixels (just in case you were thinking of buying a Sony Alpha). If any other significant details come out over the next 20 days we'll cover them.

mmmm.... my only hope is that they make a grip for it with a second shutter release. Seeing as I wind up taking most of my photos vertical and I'd have to upgrade all the way to a d200 to get that ability right now.

The grip available for the D50 isn't made by nikon(cheap quality) and it's only for additional batteries, it doesn't have a second shutter release. There isn't even a grip made for the D70/s made by nikon, and the one that is made has a flakey shutter releae(or so I've read). Yeah, I'm really picky... images/smilies/tongue.gif

That's really weird.. Why don't they make them? images/smilies/mellow.gif
I only rarely use the normal shutter release anymore, because I have the vertical grip with a release on my Canon and most of my shots are vertical..

I was slightly depressed, to say the least, when I found out canon makes real grips for almost all of their DSLRs.

As to why nikon doesn't make them.... who knows. I'd also like to know why the D200 and half their lens lineup is consistently out of stock everywhere.
