Default Photography at a bike race in Frankfurt. Some blood involved.

It all started fine, here's him biking to the start

Fourth lap, disaster. He was in third place and going well when on the home stretch an idiot right in front of him flicked right for no reason. The back wheel of the dude in front hit the front wheel of my friend and he lost it right there, doing about 60kph or so. I missed the actual crash.

He fell right on his knee straight on with all that speed, then flipped the bike and rolled several times. Sucks for those biking shoes that snap onto the pedals :S

I believe it was the adrenaline shock. His muscles were pulsating like hell and he was still smiling. What a crazy fecker images/smilies/smile.gif

He is a very competitive guy this friend of mine. His friend who accompanied us finish first in the race. I could easily see the massive disappointment in his face as he'd have easy walked over the competition had it not been for the incident.

What was an absolute gem of a sports persona he had, when he asked the red cross guys right after all the bandaging, "Would it be alright if I raced the day after tomorrow?" . What a man. I bet his girlfriend had a big shock the next morning at the airport terminal when she hugged him.

As soon as he had crashed, I abandoned all thoughts of race photography and went to help my friend out, so I apologise if none of the actual race was snapped.

The streets and houses on those pictures were more than familiar to me, I didn't watch the races though.

ATGATT because road rash looks painful. Bike races are fun to go to. There was one in town last summer. Crashes happen very fast. I saw one guy go down while just going around an easy bend. After sliding along the road for a while he picked up his bike and kept going.
