Not quite rig shots. I had a lot of issues with the Canon Powershot G5 since the sensor on that thing is too sensivitive. Since it's my "Beater" Camera. Not sure if I want to use my 40D on there yet.
The stickypod is quite amazing for what it can do. We had did our own rig shots and played around with the camera mount. We have also used my trusty old Canon Powershot G5 to take the pictures. The pictures came out pretty good but we still need to practice with the mount and also try to learn from it since the mount isn't perfect. There's a couple issues I already found. First, the camera. My camera's sensor is too sensivitive so what I end up doing is attaching the NDx8 Filter. That alone isn't enough to have the nice blur effect so what's next was for me to set the apecture to F8 which is the smallest possible F-Stop I have on the G5. Again, that wasn't enough. Luckily the StickyPod was able to support speeds up to 100mph. We went as fast as 40Mph to get the shots we needed. The second problem is suspension since we aren't driving a SUV or Truck. The pictures gotten quite "bouncy" at times. Anyways gimmie suggestions and constructive criticisms please. Please be nice too since it's our first time doing this thing. ![]() ![]() ![]() Quick Snapshot Pictures of the setup. ![]() ![]()

They come out pretty good. First one is the best.
Ive always wanted to buy one of these and have a play. What shutter speeds were you using, and how fast was the car moving? http://www.stickypod.com/car_camera_mount.html EDIT: ahh you did state upto 40mph. sorry. Last edited by JPDyno; September 12th, 2008 at 1:07 AM. |

you dont need to go 40 to get the effect you're looking for. i dunno what a g5 could do but a slow shutter speed is all you need. so maybe on a cloudy day or something, you can set up your 40d on yur rig and setup a slow shutter over a second or so and just have the car go at a walking pace so you can walk alongside ready to catch yur camera if your rig ever fails.

That's actually the problem with the G5 or the weather that day. It was a super sunny day. Bc I had try to do a slow shutter speed but that didn't do much but to only overexpose the picture.
Luckily my G5 is my "beater" camera now. I can have some fun with it.

Put a ND filter on it for a long exposure time without over-exposing the picture, and you can simply push the car along at walking pace and still get the desired effect of speed.
