Not entirely true (I think!)

You can't do it in the conventional sense ie. several frames of different exposures. But you can do it with RAW files. Photomatix will allow HDR tone mapping of a single RAW file to create a HDR image.
The results aren't as good as the proper method, but they are still pretty imperssive.

Nope, used one once and it felt horrible, handheld unasissted pans FTW !!!!111

I knew someone would point that out but I don't shoot RAW, shoot JPEG normal images/smilies/smile.gif
