Rep Power: 13 ![]() | So, I recently had the opportunity to do the roadtrip. I'd planned out the route beforehand, and then afterwards saw the first epidsode of the new TG season, where they declared the Davos-Stelvio route "the greatest driving road in the world." Turns out that the road was only a short detour to what I'd already planned, so I decided to add it in to the route. We actually did it in the reverse direction to what the TG blokes did (so we went from Stelvio to Davos) but it was just as good. What an absolutely spectacular stretch of road! Even the TG team didn't manage to do it justice with their superb footage, in real life it's just so much more spectacular! I've heard that it can be pretty overcrowded in the middle of summer. However, I took a chance and went pretty late in the season. There had been snow up there earlier, but the weekend I was there we had clear(ish!) skies, perfectly clear roads, balmy (6°C) weather and best of all... no traffic! Through the whole route (several hours) we passed only 5 cars going the other direction, only got held up by one car (which was quickly overtaken) and only got overtaken twice... both times by new E92 M3s! Overall it was just amazing. Enough talk, here's a few photos: Just entering Italy, but before turning off the main road: ![]() Now the fun starts: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Awesome. Rep Power: 13 ![]() | Thanks! Yeah, it was just amazing! And Iben, spot on with the guess! I was actually really impressed by this car. The last diesel I drove was an old Landcruiser, things have certainly come a long way since then! And of course the RWD with good-as-always BMW handling made those roads that much more enjoyable! |

Car: RX-7, Jeep Cherokee Rep Power: 0 ![]() | very nice pics. and is that twisty bit on the sat nav the only twisty bit? That's really all that's being shown in pics I find, and I thought it was longer than that. |

Rep Power: 13 ![]() | Thanks guys! And no, that part on the sat-nav isn't the only really tight bit. From what I remember there's over 40 hairpin bends heading up to the pass on the Eastern side (they're numbered) and then more on the other side, as well as some more sweeping curves. The section that I took the sat-nav shot on is the twistiest though. |

| Squirrel Mincer | ^^ Same here. I'll have to find someone I can bribe to get me a good car though, but what would be best? We should revive Ice's plans and keep them on ice (sorry, no pun intended) for a while. I would love to join a bunch of you on a road trip. |

| Man a road trip across Europe would be epic. If I had enough money - I would honestly go with a mate. We've always said we have to go across the continent sometime, but it always comes down to money.
