Default Thursday Night Cruisin' at the Mansion

Went out to the Hebert Candy Mansion today for their weekly get-together. Filled up four memory cards (granted, three of them were 32mb backups images/smilies/cool.gif). The bright sun ruined a lot of pictures but here are three that I think came out alright. I'll post more as I go through them.

Less selective saturation, please.

I kinda have to photoshop them and play with saturation because all of the cars were parked on a bright green lawn and the bright sun made for some really nasty reflections.

Ok, I'm having major problems with this GT500 shot. I cant get rid of the glare on the left-hand side. If I turn the contrast up a lot (and I mean A LOT) then its not noticeable but then I dont like the rest of the shot. Any ideas? I know a lot of you edit your photos so any tips would be appreciated.

Maybe if you select that circle, then change the contrast/brightness/other settings on that area only, you might be able to get rid of it...

What speedtouch suggested is probably your best bet. Really main thing is to avoid the flare when taking the shot (you can see it in the viewfinder)

Were you using a circular polarizer that day?

Can't you just up the contrast until it's gone, save it as a JPEG, then reload it and drop the contrast. Or will that not work, I've never tried it, I'm just assuming that JPEG removes hidden stuff.

I managed to avoid the glare in pretty much all my other pics from that day. Would a lens hood help?

Nope, nothing.

Won't work because it will just make everything gray.
Here's a shot with the contract so high that the glare is gone... way too much contrast though imo; what do you all think?

You have GOT to get a circular polarizer, it is important to use one on any sunny day, doubly so with digital cameras. I always have either a UV filter or circular polarizer on my lens all the time.

See this thread for more info.

The hood would help unless it's reflected glare, which looks to be the case here - it's basically the same as aiming the camera at the sun which is always troublesome insofar as glare goes.

It looks as though your using f4 on the shots. Your shots are inbetween background and subject speration and a full image. Its quite annoying too be honest. If you've got an f4 zoom lens, try and stand a bit further back to increase the defocused areas.
