| i want to draw a scale you know, something i can measure against i have some video footage of a cross and i want to measure its displacement from the center of the image. so i thought i could overlay a static image of a scale over the video and use it to measure how many pixels in X and Y the cross has moved. so basically, i need a image that is 1920x1080 (sony EX1 is the camera) with a X and Y scale in the middle of it. and something like a mark every 10 pixels or something. how can i do that in photo shop? | |

Rep Power: 26 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Not sure about pixels. You can choose to "show rulers" then create "guides" where you want. Or you could "show grid". Would that do? You could probably create a transparent document with the guides you want on then drag it onto your image? Otherwise create some shapes at certain sizes. That would be the specific pixel dimensions you want. |

| Gulf Livery Rules | View --> rulers, right click on the ruler, set to pixels, then ctrl-click on the ruler and drag down a guide to the edges of the object you want to measure. then just see what pixels they're on and subtract. ![]() |

| ICE are you proposing that i just take snap shots from final cut put them in PS and then measure how you just described? that sounds like the best option to me. just need to make sure i get a full 1920x1080 snap shot how do i do it so that the ruler is 0,0 in the center of the pic? also how can i read off exactly where i am? | Gulf Livery Rules | well, i'm sure there's an option to export frame in final cut, so the jpeg or bmp you'll end up with is 1920x1080. And i don't think you can move the ruler so it's in the centre, but half of 1920x1080 is 960x540. ![]() edit: ![]() |

| how do you get it to snap to those points though? theres no read out is there? looks like you just gotta read off the scale. not sure if thats accurate enough | |

| Gulf Livery Rules | why wouldn't it be? just set magnification to 100% and move them to the pixels you need. then lock the guides so you don't accidentally move them. |
