No, he's talking about chop 1, not chop 4.

Well if there's no more votes to be collected then I dont see why I can't start the results process.

Hmmm... 14-3 to RB in terms of the BTCC-chopped Volvos. I really need to up my game.

The placing of a few of your logos probably let you down a bit (the Omega one is a bit too distorted). It's something I spend a lot of time on because it will make or break a chop. Little details such as for me, bending the Q8 logo around the wheelguard (although I'm a bit disappointed with those stupid low quality Q8 logos). You've improved an awful lot since the earlier months though

Yes, hmm indeed. An unaltered Volvo nose grafted onto an unaltered Aston rear end gets the top spot...
I'm not sure if I'll enter next month. I mean I spent a long time chopping the fucking roof of that Volvo and making it look good and I'm beaten by that. No offence to Pug but the amount of work doesn't come close. I didn't even make the top 3, what the fuck?

Nice work, everyone!
I didn't do as I hoped, but it was fun nevertheless... Sorry for not voting, I had my 1st and 2nd place in mind, but didn't know who to choose for third place... Can one vote for less than three chops? Plus, IMHO, it's not just the amount of work involved, it's the idea and the quality of the work that matter as well... Can't wait for next month!

![]() I spent over a week solid on that; days and nights till the early hours. It's far from unaltered. ![]() Have a (much) closer look at the grille, the intercooler, the bottom of the front valance, the hand-drawn bonnet shut-lines and shading, the colour-matching, tones and reflections, the hand-drawn shadow under the front of the car, etc, etc. Never mind the amount of transforming I had to do to get the front end in proportion with the rear before a shitload of blending came into play. ![]() Try this - plug my pic into Tineye; click on compare images with a good match for the original; then click toggle image. I voted for you, fwiw. ![]() Anyway... Thanks for the votes, everyone. ![]() I was worried I'd been a bit too subtle in places (as evidenced by Matt's comments). I Figured the competition would be pretty stiff, especially when I scrolled down to see Salle's entry, let alone all the others. I had to bite my tongue after the early "Do not Want!" comment, I must admit. If ever there was a Volvo I could lust after, this was it. ![]() I must admit, I didn't vote for any of the ones with the modded, manipulated or removed pillars because mose of them had only done the left side and not the inner still-visible ones. *ahem* ![]() Guess I'd better go find a suitable candidate for next month's comp then... I thought about the Daihatsu Basket but figured half of us would probably do the obvious.

I admit the nose of the Volvo is very well grafted on, but I can't see the intercooler on my monitor (I assume it should be in the bottom opening on the bumper) and from past experience the fine details seem so be missed when people concentrate on the flashier entries. That seems to change every month though. The rear wheelarch covers were built from scratch with the heal tool on my entry but I assume were largely ignored. I'll probably get a bucketload of abuse and 'whiner' neg reps if I say anything else so I'll stop there.

Pug's chop doesn't look like a chop - and for me that's the most impressive kind. Everything about it is absolutely spot-on.

I don't mean to be overly tenacious but I do tend to respect people's opinions and I'm concerned that you're missing an awful lot of work that I did here. I spent a day or two on the grilles alone.* The bars of the main one are actually made up of four parts (one mirrored) to get the lighting right. The lower one had the original removed, before I built up a frenched recess, mounted an intercooler and then laid a mesh grille over it before constructing the outer frame. The outer foglamp one was no mean feat to get lined up as a good match for the other but I guess most people won't even notice at 800x600. I trimmed off the bottom of the valance to bring it into proportion overall in the way I believe a designer who had done the rear of the car might have styled it and to give it a better look but the two different shades of red the cars were could easily have been my greatest challenge to overcome. The part above the wheelarch, back to the A-pillar was one of the hardest parts though. The shutline, swagelines and reflection/shadows on the curves were all hand done, almost pixel by pixel in places at high magnification. That was the part I spent several days on before resubmitting, after everyone was saying how they'd done their "best work". I can comfortably say this was mine too, if I'm honest. *I was a bit worried that these parts might be overlooked, as you seem to have done but I pride myself in attention to fine detail, which is evidenced in the way I both entered and voted, I think. At the end of the day, it would be a shame if you don't enter this month. I enjoy your work, if that counts for anything. ![]() Personally, I had a lot of fun doing this. If you're not having fun, then fair enough, don't enter but please don't let winning be your only goal if you are. ![]() Quote:

Congrats to pug for winning this month's chop. I wonder what car he'll choose for the next one.
edit: do people celebrate 1000 posts? If so, woo hoo! |

Ooh, that would be interesting. I'll have to start coming up with some ideas.
![]() I assume you're pointing at your own car and not the picture of Hammond, cause I can't think of anything to do with a Morgan or a Zonda. ![]() And yes we do tend to celebrate 1000 posts, because that's the point where Viper (and more-so these days Quiky) own your entire soul. Don't feel too bad though, they've got mine 5 times over and I'm still fine. ![]() Edit: Another reason to celebrate, my first idiot neg rep for one of my posts. No name either, where am I supposed to send the £5000 cheque?

![]() I've PMed the link to Red Bull (did wonder if I could link it here but wasn't sure, so erred on the side of caution). I'm off to get a head start... ![]() [edit] Right. Finished and submitting. ...

Gratz Pug, it was a very well done chop.
The problem that I had with yours is that it felt too much like a vector and not enough like a photograph of a car... if that makes any sense. |

Looking back at all the chops that was done. im glad that im a part of this competition. im just here to see if i can do it and i did. next time i will just keep it simple and smoothen my details to make it look like a connoisseur 's choice. Congratulation to the guy who won. his chop was simple but looked good. so, on to the next one....
