I agree that we have to have diplomatic relations with Iran and need to cripple their stance of power in several regions.

It could be seen that way...I'm not sure how much influence Iran has on Shiite militias (in Iraq) though.

I think all of the militias in Iraq are like armed neighborhood watches. The real influence is who is supplying them. Think about this, if Iran is supplying them, it is alot like us supplying Bin Laden to fight the soviets. I think people only think of the current situation and not the blowback or if they will turn. The enemy of my enemy is my enemy.

Alright, didn't really think I needed to start a new thread on this. Just a video of one of the most recent helicopter crashes, one of six in the last few weeks (Although I don't remember how many of the others were shot down).

I am one of them and you are correct, but not just because of that. The extra training and time it would take to make them even half useful as Soldiers would waste the time and energy of people who could be doing their real job instead!

All the training programs needs to be overhauled. I can't see how we can go into Iran and take care of Iraq without a draft.

There are under 200,000 deployed in Iraq, and there are something like 1.4 million active duty (?). When you add the reservists, there are plenty.
