Brilliant move by the NDP.

Put yourself in Layton's position. If another election is called, the NDP would probably get more seats, but the Tories would control the government. A Tory government would mean the NDP voice is just that, a voice. The Liberals tend to swing on both sides of the fence. The NDP needs to keep the Liberals in power so that they can get their message out.

Just like Mike Tyson said, if the Tories win, Layton and the NDP are going to fade to Bolivia.

He darn well better want to - if he doesn't, he'll lose years worth of work. If he makes a go of it, the NDP stand to gain some ground in the House. It's sort of like achieving radar lock on an enemy fighter jet, and telling your wingman you want to be successful in downing him. Duh--if you're in that position, you darn better well want to. Not sure what Layton was getting at - that comment is kind of a "Mr. Obvious" one to me.

Recent polls show that Quebec potential Yes voters for separation is at it's highest point EVER, at 54%

in 1995, before the Liberals fucked with us and caused the results of 49%, we were at 39% before actually calling the referendum so just think if we can get that extra 10% back too, we'd be at 64!

even 13% of people who consider themselves federalists said they'd vote yes! images/smilies/ohmy.gif

And it's quite evenly reparted though the population too, good news, good news!

now the only problem is that we're stuck with Charest (our prime minister and leaver of the PLQ) for another 2 years, before the PQ can go back and call a referendum...

I've never seen Ontarians interested in politics. But Quebec is the place, as people in here believe, where people want it to be saperate state. Because they have diff rules than rest of the country. Which many people dont like apperently. But I, myself love Montreal (Because of historic looks and nightlife) and Toronto (Because of advancement and business heart of Canada).

My bet would be San Francisco, although you can't really tell.

But let's stay on topic (or kinda)

another poll was published today, showing that the fall of Liberals at Ottawa is also reflected on the provincial level (also helped by the total incompetence of Jean Charest who's our current prime minister) and results are shoking!

With repartition:
PLQ (Parti Liberal du Québec) : 28%
PQ (Parti Québécois) : 45%
ADQ (Action Democratique du Québec) : 23%

And if you only consider french speakers (I won't say real Quebecers as I don't want to offend anyone, but I'll think it images/smilies/wink.gif ) the % for the PLQ drops at 15%!!!

And it's pretty much all explained by the Scandale des commandites, and as I said before, the horrible performance of our current provincial governement which is the PLQ, which is quite clear, since 67% are unsatisfied with it

It shows quite well how sick of that crap we are

Now back to Federal talk (still from the Quebec point of view)

Most people (69%) think we must wait before calling elections,

Without repartition:
Bloc Québecois: 41%
Parti Concervateur: 11%
NPD: 15%
Parti Liberal: 23%

Which means the Bloc would gain AT LEAST another 6 seats (they already have 54/75)

Globe and mail survey is even more optimistic!

Quote:
But the bounce from Mr. Martin's weeklong campaign is only a glimmer of hope for the Liberals, Mr. Gregg said. For one thing, the Bloc Québécois' stranglehold on Quebec tightened, as it garnered 55 per cent support, compared with 16 per cent for the Liberals.
In Quebec, the Bloc appears set to romp to a sweep of most of the province's 75 seats. That support is unusually firm: only 6 per cent of Bloc supporters said they could switch to the Liberals.

"The Liberals have nothing to pick up. Nothing," Mr. Gregg said. "They are gone in the province of Quebec."

Support for the other federalist parties in Quebec stands at 9 per cent for the Conservatives, 8 per cent for the NDP, and a surprising 12 per cent for the Greens. "None of the federalist parties are right now satisfactory options for federalist voters," Mr. Gregg said.
images/smilies/thumbsup.gif

And BTW, if we do get a referendum, and we win it, it doesn't mean we'll separate. Referendum questions are usually (a lot more complicated but..) like "Do you want to give us the responsability to make studies and negociate arrangments with Canada about Quebec's separation into a distinct state"

And then we'll have to choose.

No. I care too since I've never seen a government like ours before. It's like kids playing with toy money but it's actually real money.

People on this board are one of the few who actually get it. There's others who think the Liberals are doing a "great" job. images/smilies/lmao.gif Makes me laugh.

Interesting. I definitely like that survey more images/smilies/biggrin.gif. Yay. Anything but Liberals would be fine with me.

The best thing to do on election day is go with someone who is really strongly minded about one party, then cancel out their vote. images/smilies/lol.gif
