It seems to me that due to the lack of a dictatorship in the history of the US, some people just feel a need to obtain their brainwasing from a non-governmental institution. |

The Catholic Church doesn't know what to do with itself, instead of enacting worthwhile reforms, like allowing clergy to marry and allowing contraception, they instead waste their time on this crap.

Of course the hypocrisy in this is that the Catholic church is obscenely wealthy. | |

| To clarify this. He isn't actually talking about the eye of an actual needle, but a gate in the jerusalem city wall. It was very low so the camel would have to bend down to get through it and it was very difficult.

Car: 1988 Mini Cooper, 1998 MB E55 AMG Rep Power: 9 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Why is it that the catholic church always likes to stop us from making progress? I've never been able to believe in the church because their vision of god is too corrupted. I have serious doubts about a supposedly "all loving" god that only listens to prays in one language from one institution. In fact, god will burn us all in hell unless we go to church every sunday and donate money towards the building of ridiculously expensive and grand churches. The church, to me, has always been about controlling the masses, separating a small group of elites from the common people and denying them any basic human desires. |

They'd have these "Night at The Races" parties several times a year in which people would buy tickets to watch prerecorded horse races and bet on which horse would win. Food was served, but patrons were allowed and ENCOURAGED to bring their own beer, wine, liquor... whatever they wanted, to keep at their table. All this sounds fine and dandy except for the fact that it all took place in the hall in the church's basement. I only went to one after I turned 21 (long after I had stopped believing) and the whole time I sat there I couldn't believe the amount of pride, huge amounts of gluttony, envy, and sloth that were taking place. Somehow the tale of Jesus going Ape-shit in the Temple had gone over these people's heads. I even asked my mother about it and she just flapped her hand in mid are and said "Oh, they had to call the Chancery to get it approved... I know what you're thinking, just go with it.".... ....UHHHHHH, WAT? This whole experience perpetrated my idea that to most adults, like my parents and neighbours, church only exists not to be a way of salvation and increasing faith, but as a social club. As we grow up we have things like school, clubs, extracurricular activities, sports and even just the mall to meet friends and be social. As we age however, we lose those things and to many adults work is the only way to be with others than your family. Many then join, or a lured, to a church community because 1.) It's free 2.) Everyone is accepting of you and 3.) They are incredibly easy to fit in with. Do I think my parents believe in Christianity? Yes. Do they go to church for the reasons they should? Absolutely not. /I told my mother about these "New Seven Deadly Sins" and her response was that she didn't believe it. //DTMRacer, loved it. +1
