Scenes of foreigners burning American flags may be common on TV, but such desecration is rare in this country. The Citizens Flag Alliance, an advocacy group that supports a constitutional amendment, reports a decline in flag desecration incidents, with only one this year.
I have to say that I am upset with this. People in this country want their rights but dont want to respect that flag. Hypocritical yes but I wouldnt make it a law to prevent flag desecration. Its mostly in the Middle East, where flag burning is very symbolic and I guess a pasttime.

As a Republican and proud American I think this is a bit too much and I am dissapointed that the Senate is going to waste time with this. images/smilies/thumbdown.gif

I guess most of us are in agreement on this one. images/smilies/wink.gif

Funny but seriously most flag burning that I know of is from the Middle-East and sometimes in Asia.

USA and Israel flags are burned there so often and you know that.

True, we don't really burn anyone's flag if we're pissed at another country.

As I said its symbolic in the middle-east. It is also symbolic to slap your shoes on a picture or in the face of someone as seen in Iraq.

Diff cultures diff practice but I think its ridiculous to make it a law here. images/smilies/thumbdown.gif

Do they know that burning worn-out flags is the proper and honourable way of disposing them?

Any sensible person wouldn't even think about burning a US flag inside the country. Why do the "brightest" people in the country need to write a law to ban it? Can't they just let those senseless idiots be?

It's embarassing to live in a country where politicians would rather solve the "problems" of people living halfway across the globe than to help the starving millions within their own borders!!!
We have murders and rapes more than any other developed country because we have serious problems with our own citizens! We need to solve that first before we boast about how superior our country is. To Europeans, we just look like a bunch of class-less baffoons beating each others' heads with dinosaur bone clubs.

People in other parts of the world have the right to burn the US flag. If you were a foreigner looking into the US and experiencing everything the US has done to others, you would probably do the same thing. Americans are simply seen as arrogant fools that can't keep their noses out of other countries' behinds.

We need to change this image if we are to gain the trust from the world.

I think I'll have to go in US just to burn a few flags and piss them off.

Might as well go there on the 4th of July while I'm at it!

I'd like to point out that "our" guns are REGISTERED, and for hunting, whereas you guys have pistols and assault weapons!

Plus your guns aren't registered so your statistics can't be true.

so is that why I had to REGISTER my shotgun when I bought it? Is that why I'll need to REGISTER my handgun when I buy it?

Why allow one recreational use(hunting) and deny another(target shooting). the VAST majority of gun crime is committed with illegally gained weapons in the first place, so how is denying law abiding citizens going to help anything? Here's how: it won't.

I'd love to have a Desert Eagle .50. images/smilies/thumbsup.gif Stupid laws are so restrictive, I dont even have a criminal record, I would use it for target practice and that would be so much fun.

I actually know a few guys that hunt with that gun. I don't know how sucessful they are, seeing as the average marksman can't hit anything smaller than the south side of a barn at 50 feet. Myself I have a single shot break-barrel 20 gauge shotgun, and I used to have a Remmington 30-06, but I sold it. This yeah I'll be getting a Walther P22 and if my budget allows a 9mm Glock.

Here's a quote for you conspiracy theorists:
