A law to ban flag-burning is against everything the Founding Fathers so lovingly stood for. It is an expression of your opinions and in America, we have the freedom to do these things. It is this that makes us so much better than countries like communist China, where people who advocate and fight for democracy are jailed by the state. It's not difficult to draw a parallel between banning flag burning and banning free thought.

To support this amendment is to spit in the face of the Founding Fathers' vision of a truly free people.

There are alot of things that would upset the Founding Fathers, the same Founding Fathers that acknowleged a God but didnt endorse a spefici religion would be upset and the progress secularists have made.

And yet they set up the country so that both groups of people, religious and not, could live in harmony and prosperity.

No, I think they would be truly ecstatic knowing that those who chose not to worship a higher entity were not being persecuted for doing so by a faux-democratic government (Iran?)

Something to add to my list of favorite quotes:
Quote:
Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between man & his god, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legitimate powers of government reach actions only, and not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, thus building a wall of separation between church and state. Adhering to this expression of the supreme will of the nation in behalf of the rights of conscience, I shall see with sincere satisfaction the progress of those sentiments which tend to restore to man all his natural rights, convinced he has no natural right in opposition to his social duties.

Thomas Jefferson

You think that's the result of SEPARATION of church and state? That flies in the face of the first amendment to the Constitution. If anything, that's the first steps to state-sponsored religion. You've got your definitions mixed up there.
