Default Debate on Religion and Reason...

Been watching this for about 1 hour 20 minutes (when I should have been sleeping, because I have to work in a few hours). Very interesting, lots of good points all around....

I watched that too. I like how the other two balance Harris out, who is way to extreme in his anti-religious views.

Sweet, will listen to this tomorrow.

I just watched a wonderful documentary on Evangelicals. Being one who does not believe in god or supernatural forces at all, Evangelicals are just off the deep end in my point of view.

Anyone heard of Richard Dawkins? He is an atheist who has quite severe views of religion. He has made quite a few documentarys which, although extreme, do raise some interesting points.

I honestly hate religion (not religious people). It's forced onto young minds, and uses peoples' desire to be good against them.

BTW: I'm not prejudiced, I was raised religious. Luckily I'm one of the small percentage that can claw their way free.

Dawkins pwns.

I can understand how people can hate the dogma of religion and the constructs it creates to indocrtinate adherents and shut themselves off from rational thinking. But in that sense is religion any different from other ideologies, like conservatism, liberalism, communism etc.?

The Liberals don't tell me I'll burn in hell for all eternity if I'm a Conservative. Most of the time, anyway.

For me it's all about methodology to truth; the method used to aquire truth is paramount.

Religious methodology is faith - ie. I just believe it because I choose to.

It's late so I have no tact.
