Did you even read my first post before the evangelist started posting garbage?

Let's say we accept creation, which version of that do we teach? Was it just one god that created everything? What about people that believe in many gods? Do we just ignore them?

And you haven't even answered my question. How does creation contradict with evolution?

Of course I read your post. That's what I meant by continuing to beat the dead horse. Most of the stuff you said is just stuff you've already stated elsewhere.

I don't see the point in prolonging this disscussion, but you seem to want answers to your questions....

As I've staed before: I'm not saying that we should teach creation straight from the Bible in schools. I just think that the scientific community should be open minded enough to admit that there are many indications that suggest that this world and universe was designed. There's plenty of evidence for this (order of universe, complexity of even "simple" life, symbiotic relationships, male/female genders, instincts, balance of our ecosystem, etc.) and people who believe this should not be ridiculed as ignorant. Let's give our kids the opportunity to be open minded. If we just tell them "This is how it is" and don't let them explore the options, when no option can really be "proven", then we're just training them to be close minded.

How does creation differ from evolution? By and large, evolution proposes that we are here today because of random chance. We are the result of non-lving matter somehow spontaneously generating life (which I've already pointed out is impossible and scientists have known this for awhile now). Creation proposes that we were created by God and we're not just here for no reason at all.

So there are my answers. You may not agree with me, but oh well images/smilies/smile.gif

Really though, we should just respect our differing opinions and leave it at that. I won't think of you as being ignorant for disagreeing with me and I trust you will give me the same privelage images/smilies/wink.gif

Once again, if the universe was designed, why couldn't it have been designed to foster the evolutionary process? There are many mechanisms that guide the path of evolution that may seem random. Why can't they be guided by an intelligent designer/s?

Everything you stated can be explained by science, and aren't proofs of creation. Prooving creation would mean showing the literal interpretation of creation myths to be true. We're talking about how life came to be. The two choices are the earth was here, ready for the process of evolution, or that something sent man down from the sky. The first one has evidence, flaky maybe, but it's evidence. The second one, there isn't a single shred of physical proof that exists to support it.

Like I said, the issue is that people are taking man-made stories too literal. Every religious scripture is made to make men feel superior to everything on this earth.

Again, let's say the scientific community accepts the concept of creation. You just told me creation says we were created by God. Not everyone believes in your God. Science needs to be concrete, we can't say it could have been Jesus, Allah, Krishna, Ra, Zeus, Jupiter, you get my point?

The spontaneous generation of life may be a fact. In Mexico, scientists have come across a small series of lakes and ponds where extremely simple organisms have been found. These organisms are just about exactly the same organisms that scientists believe that made up the primordial soup. I lost the article, its somewhere on NewScientist.com if you want to find out.

And in still another example of why this argument is seriously pointless to be having in this forum,
here's a good argument for why evolution ISN'T random:

http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/fitness/
Posted 4-6 years ago.

The standard creationist argument of "Well, how could something just mutate into existence by random selection?"
is what drive me nuts in this discussion. images/smilies/ohmy.gif

Because it isn't just random, there are many factors directing to a specific outcome or outcomes. Read the article.

And once again, this is just an argument with some good thinking behind it imo, and there aren't enough days left in my life to get caught in a
"Is so!" "Is not!" argument.

If your faith makes you a better person that's great, I have no problem with that.
If you want to induct me into your cult/church/ashram/whatever, that's a problem.

Religion(s) have been around a lot longer than the current popular iteration. How can the current practitioners think that their version is
THE ONE, when in 50 years the evangelicals will have taken the lead, or the buddhists, or the muslims, or ??

Anyone interested in the critical thinking side of this, check out http://www.tam4.com/
It's a shameless plug for the Randi Foundation, but last years TAM3 was amazing.
Great speakers and a WORLDWIDE bunch of people.

What if his name is Odin?

Should I make sure I die in battle just in case there is an Asgard?

It probably goes worse for you if you pray to the wrong god rather than just avoiding praying to any of 'em...
