Vote libertarian then, its like republicans only without the christian beliefs. I beg of you to vote 3rd party. Once a 3rd party gets 5% of the popular vote they are eligible for public financing.

The problem with the Libertarian party is you get wackos like Tim Eyman (tried to close public libraries and parks in Washington). I acknowledge the need for some socialism, too many of the Libertarian's want anarchy (still I would have voted for Ron Paul for president).

Hey I only vote libertarian because they have the best chance to get that 5% and all I need is them to make the other two parties get their shit together.

Yeah, I know. It's what the Greens were hoping for when Nader ran in 2000. It would have been wasted, because they barely wanted to compete in the 2004 election....

Anyway, I'm not a citizen...

While the libertarians have their nutjobs, I think the basic party platform could certainly use some time in the media spotlight. I don't quite know yet how I'll be voting in the fall, but the Libertarians always seem to rear their ugly little heads into my thoughts...

Btw for those that voted for the economy. The Iraq War and the economy are so tied together its not even funny. Deficit spending to finance has caused a weak dollar, which has wreaked havoc on our fuel prices which fuel no pun intended fuels our economy. Thus wreaking havoc on everything. Strengthen the dollar and things will get better.

I do agree the war is waste, but the weak dollar plays a very small role in increasing our fuel prices.

But what about major oil-producing countries trying to get the international currency for oil switched from the US Dollar to the Euro? I thought the fact that the Dollar was the standard for oil trade was why it hadn't plummeted even further. Could be completely wrong, I don't follow economics as close I probably should. images/smilies/dry.gif

As a (partial) American living abroad, the Iraqi occupation is probably the most important issue to me at the moment. The worst part about it IMO is that I don't see any easy ways to fix the problem Bush started. images/smilies/sad.gif

I'm sorry we frown on using facts and logic.

The states is still a great place to live don't get me wrong, but its far from perfect and this weak dollar is killing us.

For me the biggest issue is Congress. So many of these issues could be rectified if they would only pull their heads out of their asses and vote for what's best. Instead they're doing whatever necessary to keep their overcompensated asses in office. Their is too much pressure, from the leadership of both parties, telling lawmakers that they better vote along party lines, nevermind their own beliefs or platforms they campaigned on.

On the subject of the economy. I was just reading this article about Greenspan saying that in early 2009 housing prices should stabilize.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080813/...y_greenspan_dc

Aside from that, I found this interesting.

Quote:
Greenspan also offered a novel suggestion to bolster the housing market -- increase the number of potential home buyers by admitting more skilled immigrants.
I think it's a great idea. I'm not an expert on immigration, but I believe Canada gives a lot more weight towards skills versus the United States with emphasis on families. Would you say that's accurate?

I would say other: my rights.

It seems the older I get the more of my rights, or what I see as my rights are impaired.

I would vote libertarian if I thought that would help... but what would be the point? I think I won't even vote at all....
