All for comfort...

Josty, I don't think anyone is condoning the poor treatment of the animals, but what is the difference between eating meat and wearing fur (if the the animals are killed humanely in both cases)?

Do you think all fur comes from that guy smacking rats on the pavement?

There are some good "farms" out there.

Plus, I'm pretty sure they (and so did I) voted for the first option because they don't agree with the second option. But Don't take the first option litterly, I'm sure they don't care about animals.

Is just lame presenting the first option like ppl don't care, very very bias and it can't result in a proper non bias choice. Fix it..

Oh I wouldn't mind fur if the animals had a good life and had no pain during their death.

If people tortured cows to get milk I would be against milk.

Hope you see my point I'm making.

Yup, but you can't be against all meat because one farm somewhere in china treats their animals badly. Other farms do it more ethicly. But propaly not as well as it should be done. But its also a question of price and time.

We're on the same page then. Perhaps the solution is some sort of tag that would be attached to a fur coat by an independent party that states "the animals to make this coat were killed humanely" (maybe something like the dolphin message that is on tuna cans).

^^ I have yet to see a good furfarm, even here in Holland I haven't seen a decent one where the animals can walk around on earth....

It's because PETA is so damn stupid. Instead of trying to improve the treatment of animals in constructive ways, they hand out bloody baskets of dead chickens to kids at KFC. images/smilies/wacko.gif

Oh that's weird, but they have to draw attention for it...It's not like they have all the money in the world. They need to get people who donate...so you need to show the world how bad it is...

They basically just demand that everyone becomes a vegetarian. By being so radical they ensure that it just remains a fringe movement. If they let people know which animal products were killed humanely, then they could let the people decide what to buy themselves.

I think there is a label for fur already, but that's been copied too...

So PETA is just like WSPA Wold Society for the Protection of Animals?

weird point. since in fact you aren't against milk, but only against the torturing.
So if you would ask if i would be against milk i would say: no definately not.
(but that doesnt mean i would approve of torturing cows)

Huh...I just said that because someone else said "what if fur is taken from animals if they had a good life and haven't been tortured when they got killed".

I would have no real problem with it, the reason why I said that about milk is:

Milk is taken from a cow, and he doesn't mind (as far as I know images/smilies/tongue.gif), he doesn't get tortured of whatever. If they would cut him open and take milk, I wouldn't drink milk..

Clear images/smilies/wink.gif

I think that pretty much sums up my feelings about the matter. The way I tend to consider this type of thing is put myself in the animals position.

I couldn't care less what happens to my body when I die. But I don't see why anything should suffer more than necessary.

If I every find a bird that been left for dead by a cat I always put it out of it's misery.

As for wearing fur, I don't really see the point with today's modern fabric like Gore-Tex is far superior in every way. Fur for fashion I could give a shite. I've always agreed that vanity is the worst sin.
Still haven't found a good replacement for leather boots/shoes though.

I have no problem wearing fur. If you are against wearing fur for the sake of animals, you must be a vegetarian or else you are a real hypocrite. As long as animals are killed for food and clothing - and not tortured, severely mistreated, or killed for fun or for no apparent reason aside from serving humans - there is no problem with slaughtering an animal at all.

I guess if you are against fur, you must be also against leather because leather is basically a cow's skin.

Some people don't even have human rights, what's the point of focusing on animal rights?

It's like the Meet the Neighbours series of Clarkson which shows the French, Italians, and Spaniards eating meat without caring about the animal.

And THAT'S the whole problem for me, fur ISN'T taken from animals in a 'humane' way...

Damn, that video was sick. I dont remember exactely who said what in this topic, but i would join the party that is against torturing, skining alive, mistreating, etc animals. That is sick imo images/smilies/thumbdown.gif No matter 3rd world people or not, beating those animals and skinning them alive is totally unacceptable. Disgusting!!!

I am not against meat etc, as longs as animals are given a quick, painless death and are not kept in some miserable cages all life long.

As to other more important problems, that is true. There are more important problems and less importan ones. I think all should be paid a fair amount of attention. You can't disregard problem A because B is more important as long as you can pay attention to both.
