Default Group proposes George W. Bush Sewage Plant

Quote:
SAN FRANCISCO - A California group submitted a proposal Monday to rename a sewage treatment plant after President Bush, calling the initiative a fitting tribute to the outgoing chief executive and the "mess" he'll leave behind. The Presidential Memorial Commission of San Francisco wants to switch the name of the Oceanside Water Pollution Control Plant to the George W. Bush Sewage Plant.
Supporters hoping to put the issue on the November ballot turned in more than 10,000 signatures to San Francisco election officials, organizer Brian McConnell said. The measure needs just over 7,000 valid names to qualify and McConnell expects to find out later this month whether they made it.

Would be a decent tribute to him, I think. He's certainly left the country in a mess. Of course, the republicans don't think it's such a good idea, but you probably knew that already.

If this doesn't work someone could start a toilet-manufacturing company where their flagship commode model would be the "George Bush".

I like this idea. It shows a great sense of humour.

It also makes much more sense than the proposed George W Bush Memorial Library...

This doesn't make any sense. A sewage traetment plant take water with raw sewage in it and makes it clean for human use. So in essence, they are proposing to name a facility "George W. Bush" that takes messes and makes them better and cleaner.

Sewage goes in; relatively clean water comes out.
Leftist humor - you're doing it wrong.

Edit: On second thought, it is a rather appropriate name, as he's pretty much constantly been getting dumped on for the past 8½ years.

Yeah

Now if they built a George W. Bush water contamination plant. That'd be an idea people could rally behind.

All presidents get libraries. Although, Bush came close to breaking that tradition images/smilies/lol.gif

This is, at the very least, creative protest. Probably more productive than all the people who line his motorcade routes or sit in tents outside his ranch.

They should have named a tank after him.

Is he officially the worst U.S. president ever now? Or are there still competitors?

For me the two worst presidents in the last 100 years are Nixon and Carter. Off the top of my head: Nixon took us off the gold standard, and Carter created our nuclear "waste" problem. Though there are plenty of other presidents I don't like Ike let himself be fooled be imperialist Brits and killed off Western friendly democracy in Iran, and LBJ escalated Vietnam for no good reason. Bush's crusade against freedom and civil liberties is bad, but other have accomplished more in the past.

LBJ gave us the Civil Rights Act, that's gotta mean something.

Last 100 years? Most people say Nixon, but then again there was Warren G. Harding as well, incompetant corrupt alcoholic bastard he was. Still, throughout the entirety of US history most historians consider Andrew Johnson to be the worst president EVAR.

I gotta say that this is bad idea, and it will blow up in their faces. Republicans eat this shit up and at the end of the day, it's unnecessary and divisive.

*edit*

I'm really getting sick of things like this. There are so many problems in this country and in the world, put some effort into solving them first.

Firecat that is so true and the fact is that it does not help them one bit. The idea that these negative and down right shameful showings would reflect well on a political leaning nationwide is laughable. One can only assume that these individuals in The Presidential Memorial Commission of San Francisco want attention. Is this a legitimate method of political discourse, or rather pandering to an entertainment driven media? It is not a new phenomenon William Randolf Hearst to Rush Limbaugh to CNN all have committed yellow journalism.

Much of what they are attacking Bush for will be long forgotten; politically divisive, strongly committed to personal beliefs will be his notes. I would be extremely concerned for Obama with his high expectations disappointment is sure to follow if elected.

On a political note, as a republican it maybe beneficial to take our lumps or as Nixon would say "a trip to his Ohio fathers woodshed." Read Ayn Rand, read Thoreau, have party luminary's like Bobby Jindal, Carly Fiorina and Tim Pawlenty write "the new federalist papers" There are no ends only beginnings.
