Okay, here's what I mean. The center of the world was at one time Rome/Italy, then it became London/England, and now it is the US. Is the level at which the world is centered in the US rising or falling?

| I think it depends on how fast China is rising right now.

| My bets are on India, but China is also very likely to become the next "leader". Both countries have good growth rates, but there are factors which are often not considered which make India better off. At the moment the US are probabaly at the highest level they have ever been, even though they have a conservative, limiting and highly influencial religious movement which is limiting innovation in area's such as cloning, human tissue and stem cell research. Innovation was one key element which made the US big and a drop here would set it back quite a bit. Politically I do not see a breakdown happening so quickly, nobody would step up to the US anyway or it's another World War which would reorder the whole world anyway.

Now, I don't know the exact figures at the top of my head. But both the Roman and British empires lasted a very long time. I'd argue that the American empire only really came to fruition post-WW2

Car: RX-7, Jeep Cherokee Rep Power: 0 ![]() | It could go either way, it really depends on what happens in the future, but I'd say, no, we will continue to be a very influential and powerful nation for probably the rest of my natural life. |

Car: RX-7, Jeep Cherokee Rep Power: 0 ![]() | not only American culture has spread, all cultures have spread around the globe, and in fact American culture is just an amalgam of many cultures, we don't really have one of our own. this is a global age, and lines are constantly being blurred, moved and erased. just look at how asian culture and even european culture has spread. |

Car: 2000 Civic SiR Rep Power: 24 ![]() ![]() | American culture != McDonalds !?!?!!? I wouldn't say the US will fall, but I agree with some others, I think China, India, etc. will begin to play a much bigger role in the global sandbox in the future. |
