In the Kansas City area we have a few poorer areas, and the third richest county in the US. Cops around the wealthier areas are generally more polite, no matter what happened. In the lower class neighborhoods cops will walk up on your car with their hand on their gun, and be generally gruff and kinda paranoid. I've also noticed a good deal of profiling and discrimination based upon the car your driving. The first time I got a ticket was in a lower middle-class neighborhood well known for meth. There I was, looking thoroughly white-trash in a beat up '81 C10 pickup. When the cop told me I had a headlight out, I didn't believe him, and started to open my door to go look. He immediately drew his gun, didn't point it at me though, and told me to "Stay in the truck!" |

| Cops in Texas are, generally speaking, respectful as long as you are. Police departments, on the other hand, are becoming more and more worthless. Especially in urban areas. My Aprilia was stolen back in October. No huge surprise on its own. However, when I made the report, they refused to send an officer to get my information. They wouldn't even let me email or bring pictures. That wasn't even the biggest problem. Until January, my police report had the bike listed as a Yamaha. With a Yamaha VIN. Don't ask me how. So, basically, for the first three months it was missing DPD had no idea what they were looking for (not that they were looking to begin with.) I can't even point the blame at patrol officers themselves. I ran across a few in the week after the bike was stolen, and they were always willing to talk to me and hang on to my flyers. It's just the administration and policies I've had problems with.

| Cops up here in qld aren't too bad, but i went to NSW recently and got pulled over 5 times because the fuzz didn't like the exhaust tip on the corolla, reckoned it was too big, then wouldn't believe me when i told him thats how they come from the factory. Didn't like my wheels either, reckoned corollas are onlt fitted with 14 & 15 inch mags. Sportivos have 16's. Didn't believe that one either. I guess it just depends where in aus you are as to how the law enforcement treat you. Got RBT'd yesterday and the coppa didn't ask for my licence, just "blow in the bag please sir"....."thank you" and that was it. Havent been to victoria though, but ive heard some nasty things. | |
