Rep Power: 19 ![]() ![]() ![]() | Well, it you're conservative, you'll probably like to keep taxes down, you're a fan of privation in many cases, you'll be unlikely to want change, might even be scared of change. If you're a liberal, you're not the devil, as many Fox journalists might think, you're just positive of change, you like the idea of moving forward. Liberal views on ecconomy normally means that you are in favour of much freedom within the market, this is often reffered to as ecconomic liberalism. Funnily enough, I assess the ruling system in the US today to be conservative in views of value and legislation, but very strong liberalism within the market. Socialism simply means you are in favor of taxes to support those who can't take care of themselves, free or cheap medical care and so on. The different types of socialism is also quite interesting, you have social democracy, which in my view is quite nice, it's stable and social. In a way. You also have combinations of socialism and liberalism, you have more extreme types of socialism, like communism. I won't explain communism, I assume you understand it. Within communism there are quite a lot of directions, there are the old school Soviet followers, there are those oposed to the social imperialism, that the Soviet Union represented, like Clarté, which was quite large in Sweden in the 70s, and there are other more special sorts. Well, that's the very basic. You should check the terms by yourself, through wikipedia, for instance. ![]() But just vote for the party that you agree the most with.

ill read up i guess, because i still dont quite understand where i stand privitisation - well yay and nay really it just depends who's running the show and at the moment i wouldnt want tonys army running anything more than a big issue stall. i think the NHS is a good thing, but the way its being run at the minute makes private health care worth the outlay. i think our government does run the rail ways or portions of it again and theyre not doing bad actually. Taxes - everyone hates taxes, but i understand their need. what i dont like is when im taxed through the nose by gordon brown, and he and the treasurery proceed to spend the money on absolutely nothing, immagrants, civil servants, new cars, speed cams, quangos etc. if i pay taxes in return i'd like a good rail service, decent roads (you cant drive a 100miles here without coming across at least 1 set of major road works) and an National health service that isnt more dangerous than the reason you ended up there in the first place. i dont mind immigration, but the extent at which tony has implemented it i hate it, and to top it off, the minorities coming here are getting listened too more than the people who are actually british caucassian's by screaming offense and racism at every optertunity....do they forget that they are in britain and are allowed to live here becuase of our good will? ungreatful sods i like change, not changing is boring so long as we dont go backwards. and im not particularly fond of the investment banking types...yeah the job is high stress and requires lots of work, but its not as complicated as say engineering/science/research and its certainly not enough of a job to justify the top 1% of people in this country earning 25% of the countries total earnings. im all for earning money with a good job, but im not so fond of the way the mega earners seem to suck all the money from the bottom up to the top. then they spend their lavishs bonus's on nice houses and inturn that pushes the house prices up and begins to price people lower down out of the market completely....i better hope my mum n dad dont sell up because i reckon it's gonna be a while before i can afford my first home even with an engineering degree. and thats another thing....engineers are sooo under appreciated. those investment broker types are raking it in like footballers...yet forget that the sole reason they are able to do their jobs is because of great scientists and engineers.... email, internet, mobile phones, their computers, their desks, the very building they work in all because of engineers. engineers seem to work to give the world new and exciting stuff...stock brokers seem to work solely to make their own wallets and ego's bigger. i also hate eco-mentalists, animal rights groups etc etc....they interfere with progress. | ||

As for british taxes. I can't comment on you income taxes and so on, but when it comes to taxes on cars, food, alcohol and so on, you're way better off than us, I must say. A pint of ale at a public house for £2.50 is NOT dear. It's quite cheap. I was sold pints of GOOD ale for £1.50 in London. The cheapest standard prize in my city, is roundabout £4.50. And that's for a half a liter of poor lager. If you settle for a really, really bad half a liter of lager, you could get it roundabout £3 in big cities, like Oslo. But then the pub is full of 60 yo alcoholics, somalians that will jump you easily, the pub is the size of my sleeping room, and it smells like wee-wee and burned hair. Prizes for other stuff, like soda and food, weren't all that bad either. The subway was f*cking expensive, though.

| I'm pretty much in the middle as well. Slap bang in the middle on the y axis and just slightly right. I always thought I was a bit more right wing than that but anyway.

Our present MP is coming to my daughter's school to talk about Id Cards. The school had a project for pupils to write a letter to him expressing their views and he has read them (or his assistant) and he will be explaining his viewpoint - he has gone up in my estimation. |
