But what really upsets me is the fact that every society has its culture of police brutality. In Norway, it will never be as bad as it once were, the standard beatings of drunks and so on, but there still is a lot of violence. I know people who's never used violence, has allways spoken of respect for police, that has been beaten quite badly while in custody. That is wrong, and something must be done about that. I do wonder why this is so common in all societies. Why do those who are sworn to protect turn against the very same they should protect? As for big cities, there are some that argue, that because of a lack of respect from a large proportion of the young population, police get fed up, and thread them all as a whole. That's not a proven fact, but I guess it would apply on some cases. At the same time, it is very important to view the situation from the point of the police officer. You can't expect perfection. There might be situations where an officer needs to subdue a person, defend him/herself, defend someone else, and goes over the top. In the heat of the moment, it's easy to make mistakes. One can not judge what happens in action, with analysises made afterwards in an office, or over a table. It's unreasonable, and poor judgement. But at the same time, all complaints must be taken seriously.
