It makes the bible belt happy, and anybody that much against creationism being taught along side evolution are probably already strong Obama (or 3rd party). The religious vote is a very important vote.

If a couple of sentences from two years ago is all you have against her then it seems that she is doing well. I don't agree with her on that issue but she has many more positives that I agree with.

She's the governor of Alaska, you think there's more than three sentences about her on a national level? [SARCASM]

Seriously though, lets give it the weekend for her to get vetted by the press. She's a pick out of left field and has probably never gotten the thorough once over any candidate in the lower 48 (other than ND/SD/MT/ID maybe) would get.

Really though, VPILF.

I was speaking of those particular sentences.

I would also like to add that she is the only one on either ticket with executive experience.

I have question and Creationism taught in schools for the Americans. Is/Would taught in Science class or in Religious Education classes? I was taught about it in Religious Ed class (not sure if you have that in the US, but you get taught about all religions, including Atheism, which is a short class) which I don't see a problem in.

It's about it being taught in science classes, as a worthy alternative to the evolution theory.

However, let's not let this thread derail and eventually crash with this discussion images/smilies/smile.gif

Socialists. If there was nothing but centre ground, there would be no need for a democracy, because there would be no opposing ideas, and we would have a dictatorship instead.

Think on that. images/smilies/smile.gif

So where Obama had to compensate for his inexperience by picking Biden, McCain had to compensate by picking a conservative.

Love it.

Palin shares McCain's drive to cut the buget by reining in spending. Since the democrats have to buy their votes with "gimmie" programs, it's something they can't close on without confiscating all the private sector income they can get their hands on.

I think that she is just what the Republican Doctor ordered. I would not agree with this woman personally from what I have read, but she seems to be able to play hard-ball which is necessary in US politics.

I think that the US have the best ticket from both parties in a very long time - good luck you lot.

The more I read about her, the more I dislike her.

So she is anti-environment, pro-drilling, anti-choice (even in cases of rape or when a woman's life is in danger), pro-getting read of tax credits to companies that provide health care for workers, and anti-evolution (she doesn't even try to hide behind the usual ID argument, she is pure creationism).

Very little to like about her when you get down to it.

Why is it that everybody who isn't interested in carbon credits can be plastered as "anti-environment"? Thats total bullshit, just because shes (or anybody) doesn't stand behind the quasi-socialist agenda that "environmentalism" has become doesn't mean that they want to go around clubbing eagles and setting wildlife reserves ablaze. If environmentalists knew were interested in was actually good for the environment they would stop proposing none-sense like wind-power and lift the bans that prevent us from using nuclear waste as fuel, which at the current moment is just sitting around causing its own pollution for no good reason, all while we're burning coal and natural gas which is far from clean.

I'm NOT interested in that stupid carbon credit scheme.
I'm against drilling because even department of energy reports say it will take at least 10 years before drilling could take place and oil flowing, it would NOT affect the price of gas because all the other oil producers would have to do is lower their own production to account for the new flow. Besides the oil companies already have millions of acres they CAN drill on but are not, drill their first.

This is an interesting choice, seems to work out pretty well for the dems actually. It manages to take the experience issue off of the table entirely, and I'm frankly not sure exactly what Palin brings to the ticket except a few far-right bona fides McCain lacked. At least with Biden it was obvious what Obama was going for. He wanted an elder statesman with unparalleled foreign policy experience and no qualms about attacking McCain. Obama's people are already labeling this move as a further attack on women's rights (the right to choose) as well as being business as usual regarding energy policy, as she goes one step further than McCain as far as domestic drilling, etc.

It was certainly weird seeing this news in Denver, wish I'd run into John Kerry in the lobby of the hotel today instead of yesterday so I could've picked his brain.

Just a side note, I don't like the euphemisms "pro-choice" or "a woman's right to choose" when it should be clearly labeled "pro-abortion". Then again, the left has always led the way in being politically correct. images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

The belief that innocent, unborn life should be protected? I don't think so. Nobody will ever convince me that pro-life takes a choice away from a woman. My sister couldn't conceive because of her disease (lupus) and cried every time she heard a story about some woman who threw away her newborn. I've debated this issue countless times at school, college, with friends, etc. and I always come to the same conclusion: abortion is a selfish practice in our society that promotes a lack of accountability and acknowledges a decline in human decency.
