Default Oklahoma State Legislator - Gays Bigger Threat than Terrorism or Islam

Republican state legislator Sally Kern was secretly recorded during a speech she made to other republicans, discussing her views on the gay lifestyle:

She tried to justify what she said later, but despite what she thinks the 1st Amendment protects, it doesn't prevent people from criticizing her views or outing her as hateful and two-faced.

Something I stole off wikipedia: Kern also made headlines for authorizing a bill, which recently passed the Oklahoma House of Representatives, mandating that students who espouse Young Earth creationism still receive passing grades in Earth science classes.

Finally, here's something I thought you all might enjoy. Some information regarding her son.

Thats not a Republican thing thats a dumb thing. Baptist Church people have some of the more crazy folk. They usually have something to say about everyone, so gay people should feel included.
They are protest the war going to funerals of solders holding signs that say "THANK GOD FOR IED's". They protested the Holocaust Museum saying it was an abomination that the Jews are the true NAZI's. Catholics, Jews, Muslims, Mormons, Gays, Blacks, Immigrants, Non believers, Non Baptist are all on the hate list.

People who usually rage against something usually have some thing to hide. Besides they say we are all a little gay and I bet that she went down on some girl in college.

Her argument is that she has the right to say it the truth is she does. Although she does not have the right to be heard, slowly she will slip into the darkness after her own colleagues walk away from her.

Ugh. She just looks like the sort of overzealous Bible-thumping creep that shouldn't be anywhere near government in the first place.

Whoa there. I'm not baptist (if I'm classified as anything it's heathen images/smilies/tongue.gif), but you're off base there. You're talking about the Westboro Baptist Church, basically Fred Phelps family and a few other assorted loonies. The Baptist denomination proper cut off all ties with Phelps years ago, Phelps is just too crazy. The few Baptists I've talked to hate Phelps and Westboro Baptist more than I do images/smilies/blink.gif.

Hey who are you going to trust I'm from New York your in Kansas. Your closer to the loons they have gotten their hooks into you. Don't you know Baptist are the biggest threat our nation has, even more so than terrorism or Islam - which I think is a big threat, OK? Cause what's happening now is they are going after, in schools, two-year olds...And this stuff is deadly, and it’s spreading, and it will destroy our young people, it will destroy this nation. They are even accepting creationism in schools.

Hahaha no but seriously put anything in place of gays and it sounds just as nutty. I'm not saying all Baptist are hate mongers. Only that the ones really invested in it like her husband will have much more hard line views on sin.

The big thing that I have a problem with is that people will relate it to being a Republican. We are a diverse crowd and have gays, blacks, and nuts. Its just a shame that the nuts attract more attention than the message of fiscal conservatism and personal rights. Republicans should be mean to be conservative in politics not conservative religious zealots.

There are more conservative people who who have no problem with gay men and women than she let's on.

Namely me. I could give two shits about who sleeps with who, I judge the individual, not the group. I really wish that the general Republican side would be more willing to not listen to the ignorant ones (and vice versa for the Democrats!) and cater to more gay men and women, because when you get down to it, politics is decided not by sexual orientation, but other principles.

Heck, my neighbor across from me is gay and he is probably more conservative on some issues than I am...but the stigma of the party drives him away.

So I pointed him toward the Libertarian Party. images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Seriously, who elects these people. I mean, there are always going to be a fair few ignorant individuals who genuinely are stupid enough to judge others on their sexual orientation, race, religion or anything else. To judge anyone on any one aspect of their personality represents a very limited intellect, and someone not very capable of making reasoned decisions.

There will always be people who are racist, sexist, homophobic - but who are the people who elect them? I have never been to the USA, but most of the individuals from America on forums, people I have met through work, all seem to be decent, caring, intelligent people. So my question to the Americans on here is, is there an area in the US where you keep every moron out of the way of everyone else, leaving them voting for people like this? I am genuinely baffled.

Yep, I believe it's called Oklahoma. images/smilies/wink.gif

Alternatively, we could get all the nice, caring, unbigoted, Obama-loving people out of Mississippi and Alabama and ship all the morans from all over the South down to those two states, creating the Jesusland Reservation or something. Hey, we did it to the Indians, I don't see why we couldn't do it now.

Well we do have to remember that its a state legislator and not a a member of Congress. As you move up the chain you see that the logic of individuals becomes much more reasoned and thought out. House members are crazy and Senators are manic. State legislators either want to make a move to Congress and those who are big fish the the small pond.

Something tells me she is wishes to be the big fish in the small pond. Racism still sells in the heartland and especially in Oklahoma after they had all that press for killing one of them sanctimoniously.

Well your right to laugh at the Senators from OK

Tom Coburn OK Senator and Baptist on the topic of the gays and their evil plot

"The gay community has infiltrated the very centers of power in every area across this country, and they wield extreme power... That agenda is the greatest threat to our freedom that we face today. Why do you think we see the rationalization for abortion and multiple sexual partners? That's a gay agenda."
