That doesn't tell the whole truth because at the time of Jackson the parties were more or less flipped around, completely opposite of what they are today. Perhaps it would be better had we listened to our forefathers and not have parties of government, as they certainly do cause problems with the warping of views. George Washington's warning of political parties have certainly come true.

As I said in my post, I'm not completely convinced of the "switch" as some call it.

And the only president that he called out is Andrew Jackson, who was a horrible person. He performed and supported ethnic cleansing with the Indian Removal act and support of slavery. Jackson stands president as a reminder to the future generations that power and control is dangerous.

He was a man of his times and I can't overly fault him for that.

Yep, that's exactly what I'll say. Just because that guy didn't like his Democratic party, and you don't like your Democratic party, doesn't mean they're the same thing.

Erectile dysfunction ads too hot for TV?

You’ve all seen them. Those ubiquitous TV ads where a simple little pill transforms a man suffering from erectile dysfunction, or ED, into a virile tiger who puts a smile on the face of his now beaming wife.

Well, Representative Jim Moran (D-VA) has seen them too, and you’d be hard pressed to see a smile on his face when he talks about the ads.
“A number of people,” he says, “have come up, including colleagues, and said I’m fed up. I don’t want my three or four-year old grandkid asking me what erectile dysfunction is all about. And I don’t blame them.”

Enter H.R. 2175. That’s a bill that Rep. Moran introduced last month that would prohibit any ED ads from airing on broadcast radio and TV between 6AM and 10PM. The bill advises the Federal Communications Commission to treat these ads as “indecent” and instruct stations to restrict their broadcast to late night and overnight hours.

So, could it be adios to all of those “Viva Viagra” commercials that play on network television on weekends and during the evening? Could the same be said for the Cialis couple sitting in outdoor tubs looking out at the sunset? And could Levitra also be shunned to the overnight hours?

CNN asked Pfzier, which makes Viagra, the first pill available by prescription to treat ED, what they thought of Rep. Moran’s bill.

“Pfizer is committed to responsible advertising… In line with our policies and the policies of the industry, Viagra advertising is aired in shows most likely to reach men suffering from erectile dysfunction. ED can be a signal for other serious medical issues, including high blood pressure, diabetes and cardiovascular disease.”

We asked several people on the streets of Atlanta for their opinions.

Nikia Clark, a mother of a 2-year-old, thinks “it’s a great idea.” She’s concerned that as her child gets older, she doesn’t want him “seeing those kinds of commercials… on regular network shows.”

Janice Habersham agrees. She says while the “ads are tastefully done” they shouldn’t be aired at “the time when children are watching TV.”

On the other hand, Bruce Jackson says ED ads “should be run 24 hours a day.” And Louis Tesser says banning the ads “is clearly unconstitutional… it’s a viewpoint. It’s something that people are interested in, and you can’t change that.”

Rep. Moran does have some perspective on the issue. “While it’s not as important as the economy, or what’s happening militarily around the world, it is an intrusion into the quality of life that we like to experience.” He says that his bill is “a shot across the bow” of the drug companies. “You know enough is enough. This is inappropriate.”

Has "lying to your kids and deflecting the subject" become passe or something?

Is "we'll tell you when you're older" too emotionally damaging or something now?

It's almost like shit like this is more "traumatizing" for the parents than it is for the kids. Little Johnny's just parroting something he's heard on TV, whereas the parents have to go through group therapy and write to Dr. Phil and complain to their local Congressgoon about the injustice of it all.

I'm tired of seeing those stupid ads when I'm doing my homework, albeit I should be done with my homework when those ads start but I digress. I don't want to here about it when I'm working on my biology homework. And when are these three to four year old kids hearing these ads, The less sexual more serious ones start at like 8 and at 10 to 11 the more sexual ones begin. These children should be in bed at this time because keeping them up will lead to their sleep cycle being screwed up.

Man, what is it with conservatives being super touchy and paranoid?

I was listening to On Point tonight, and some guy called in and had a criticism of something one of the guests said. The guest actually posed a perfectly valid question back to the caller, and right away he just whines about "oh yeah, I guess I'm just a mean-spirited conservative". You hear this on all the other conservative talk shows, too, where they'll take any rebuttal of anything they say as a personal attack. Why? And why is it I never hear "oh yeah, pick on the liberal" or anything like that, either?

I certainly would. Jackson did good things, however, the bad which he supported (in my mind) far overreaches the good he did.
