Their term is however long the party decides it will be. Under GWB, there are You know, fuck it! I am not even going to bother arguing with you. Your'e right, I am wrong. America sucks. All Americans should be ashamed of expressing the liberty to vote. You win. I give up.

| It's still a step in the right direction. It shows that even a regional, local group of powerless middle/lower class citizens are refusing to be pushed around by state-level government corruption and cover-ups. Hopefully this spreads to other levels of bureaucracy, and even further than that... | |

Before jumping off the deep end about "that-sucks-but-that-is-great" you need to live in and experience both first hand. With my living in the UK, Hong Kong, Malaysia and now Singapore i HAVE been witness to both the democratic process and single party system, with the latter two being prime examples although Malaysia is going through its own turmoil at the moment that could result in a real opposition. The Singapore government is basically a family business with the current PM being the son of the founding PM, hand picked. I hear few complaints directed towards Singapore for its system. It is openly acknowledged that the Chinese central government looks towards Singapore as a reasonable target to aim for with its own changes. OH, and note...... the President of China cannot server longer than 2-terms of 5-years. He is elected to office by "The Party" who's members are likewise voted into office by local and regional party offices. It's obviously not perfect, but my point was......... nothing is.
