Not even to learn about it? I don't see anything wrong with teaching about Islam or Christianity, like how kids learn about communism and other ideologies.

I don't even think a response to such a comment is deserved. But keep believing that, and nothing will be solved.
I know you now think Im racist and all that, but I have my reasons for believing what I believe.. And no, I wouldn't want my children to be taught that all cultures/religions are equal, because they sure as hell are not..

It's just as well for you then that we don't regard you as equal.

It's little wonder people blow shit up.

I didn't say anything about teaching that it is equal. That's a conclusion that students can make if they want, or not. It's about education. We don't need any more ignorant people out there, there is nothing wrong with learning about other cultures or religions.

If you wish, you can share your reasons for believing what you believe, but save yourself the trouble. Because i'm sure they will be refuted with ease. You see, there are no rational arguments to make in favor of prejudice.

As mentioned, imagine if it was the other way around; there would be a few more derranged lunatics on their way to their 72 virgins.

I remember how much trouble i got into in my Religious Education class, again and again, because i don't call bullshit by any other name. I get the whole learning what other people believe thing, it's important for "the kids" to get a good overview of the spread of ways of living across the world. That can be done without forcing them to take part in their primitive rituals. I mean when you're studying Africa in geography class, you don't all go out on a field trip to starve yourself and get aids. You read about it in a book.

And you know what?

None of us cared. We prayed just as fervently as we would in temple and watched the movie just as we would watch "Gandhi" or any religious film. It doesn't matter to us that the name is different, God is God. There's more to it than names.

I think it's cool to show religious diversity, but this detention thing is out of hand. If someone doesn't want to do it, they shouldn't have to. Just like how some kids are removed from sex-ed because their parents don't want them to be exposed to it so early (we had a couple students like that in middle school). You wouldn't give them detention would you?

yup, many a time have i been in trouble for calling a spade a spade. people these days like to skirt around the problem. some one actually calling things as they see it is some kind of alien act that is frowned upon.

This teacher was absolutely correct in what he did. It is correct to teach diversity and respect for other cultures by disregarding and forcing it upon your own culture whether you like it or....wait a minute....diversity and respect....forcing it on people who don't want it....hmm.....I'll get back to you on this.
