I must agree with Parker and Stone: Isaac Hayes never complained when they mocked other religions, and now he´s claiming "there´s a limit". Pfffff. images/smilies/thumbdown.gif

There is a limit, and the limit is when they mock his "religion".

I love the responses the creators gave, instead of this semi-tactful PC bullshit most people would say, they just continue to rip on them. good show.

Meh. Don't like parker and stone. They are contriversial for the sake of it, because they know it'll get them ratings. In my opinion.

I disagree. Anyone who acts like that is seen as "controversial on purpose" just because everyone else acts so tight assed. I think they are just being themselves, and that's why many people can relate to thier reactions and things they say. They don't need to issue statements like that to get ratings, South Park is doing pretty good without any extra press.

I wish more people would act like them instead of walking around on eggshells.

I like the fact that they're not afraid to say what they think.

On a side note....I Honestly don't see how anyone can follow Scientology. I don't mean to be bashing on someones religion, but I was curious so I did some reading on it because I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. This L. Ron Hubbard guy was pretty much proven to be a liar and that he made the religion up to make money.

Have I missed something? Are all these Hollywood stars serious about Scientology? Do they actually think an Alien from 75 million years ago is what started it all? It just seems a bit too Heaven's Gate, drink the cool-aid for me.

L. Ron Hubbard was a science fiction writer who made a bet with his fellow science fiction writer buddies that he could start a religion that people would actually believe in. Yep, John Travolta and that douchebag Tom Cruise believe in a religion that was started by a bet.

Quote:
In Bare Faced Messiah which Scientology tried very hard to stop being published, Neison Himmel who shared a room with Hubbard stated:
"I always knew he was exceedingly anxious to hit big money -- he used to say he thought the easiest way to make money would be to start a cult."

I know, it's not smart to believe random stuff you find on the Internet, but this rumor has been going on for a while and it's been documented in many places.

I'd say it holds more water than the entire farce of a religion scientology is.

While we're talking about nutbag celebrity religions, did you know that there is a rapper sect of islam that allows drug abuse, adultery and is set against the "evil white devil"? Busta Rhymes among other rappers are part of it.

I don't remember the name of it, but imagine the backlash from a group of celebrities taking part in a religion that is against the "evil black devil". Another example of race double standard and blacks being given special consideration.

Phil Anselmo, former singer of Pantera said something similar a while ago.
If you wear a "White Power" t-shirt you´re a Nazi. If it says "Black Power" it´s cool...pathetic

Because there is a difference. For the most part, whites haven't endured the kinds of oppression that blacks (and other racial minorities) have. And I use the term "minority" loosely because even in countries where whites are the minority, they have found ways to be the oppressor.

In regards to what zenkidori posted, I can agree with that. To label whites as "the devil" is racist, regardless of history, because it is a generalization.

However, the quote above is a different story. One has to take into consideration political and economic factors (within the context of history). Whether it holds up to present times, that can be debated.

I just don't think that 30 years of progress can make up for hundreds of years of oppression.

*Edit. On a side-note, still unrelated to south park and scientology (sorry). There is an interesting series running on FX, It's called "Black.White."...basically a white and black family are staying together, and they switch races (using make-up etc)...then they go out into different situations to try and understand the other side. Two episodes have run so far.

Fuck that mentality right up the ass. I have taken NO part WHATSOEVER in the oppression of blacks, neither has my parents, or grandparents, etc. etc.

GET THE FUCK OVER IT. No black person alive today was a slave, most don't have any ancestors they could speak of that were.

If a black person can use the word "nigga" so can I. If a black person can wear a shirt that says "black power" I can wear one that says "white power".

How's that for equal fucking rights?

There's a certain point you can take things to. I'm paying for shit I had no hand in and neither did my ancestors. Even if my ancestors did, SO FUCKING WHAT? Are my ancestors magically oppressing blacks now? NO! Blacks have even more advantages than whites in this country. When you tell a black person straight to thier face you don't agree with them or like them, 9 times out of 10 the first words out of thier mouth are, "is it because I'm black?". Jesus H christ get over it already.

here's a story I may have told once. At my brother's high school some black kid kept causing shit with other students, he had no reason, he was just one of those kids who causes shit. So one day he picks a fight with a football player, who promptly knocks him flat on his ass. He screams racist, gets the kid expelled and enjoys a county sherrif escort to all classes. What's more is his ghetto ass friends from the city come down and start intimidating this football player's friends in the parking lot, and the most the school did was tell them to leave. fucking bullshit.

NOBODY deserves special consideration for what thier great grandparents MIGHT have endured, nobody.

It's not just blacks, so don't think I am racist, I just hate to see inequality in all forms and I hate this reverse racism crap.

my girlfriend is 3/4 japanese and very very smart. When she was young she tried getting into the accelerated program 3 times before she changed her racial status to "asian" and was accepted immidiately.

when looking for financial aid for college I was offered half of what her and her arab friend were, even with similar GPA and ACT scores(which don't factor in most of the time anyway).

Saying that ANY race at all deserves special considerations is in itself, racist, and continues to separate humanity based on how they look, and it's total bullshit. If you've been wronged, fine, you are entitled to your piece. But that entitlement goes NO FURTHER. It does not extend to your race, religion, gender, family etc. In fact that type of special consideration goes against the constitution itself.

Wear a t-shirt that says "white power"...you have every right too (not that I think you want too). But what message would you be trying to send? What would it mean?

And the whole idea of "power" ties into the aspect of racism i'm talking about. The effects of institutionalized racism. Not race relations between individuals. So it's not about your ancestors or anybody elses ancestors, it's about the government as an institution.

For the most part, even though our posts might not show it, we agree on some general stuff. I'm just trying to explain why a t-shirt that reads "white power" would be considered offensive vs. a shirt that read "black power"...
It's like having a channel called BET (black entertainment television). The reason there is no WET (white entertainment television) is because what kind of programming would that have that isn't already on every other channel? In saying that, I personally have an issue with BET (not the idea behind the channel, but the programming)...but that's a different story.

I was illustrating the disparity here, I would never wear a fucking white power shirt. A white person would be looked at as a nazi, wheras a black person would be looked at as a black person, and not the black version of a nazi.

BET is another things that's wrong. I disagree with the entire idea of a channel just for blacks, that's stupid, and racist.

In this country many races separate themselves, on purpose or accident, but they do it themselves.

Celibrating your heritage and where you come from is one thing, but being racist, exclusive and having a double standard is just plain evil.

Look, I kinda agree. Maybe a little on the fence. I think the reason for creating such "protected classes" is preventative in nature. So that people of a certain race or gender aren't excluded by the powers that be. Intentional or not. Maybe because if there is a large margin between whites and blacks (For example), it may be equal opportunity for students trying to get into an area school in terms of them as individuals...but not in terms of race. I.e. Based on the percentage of whites and blacks, the latter would be under-represented.

But again...I don't really agree or disagree with any of that.

not sure if what I wrote makes any sense...part of my attention is on the malaysian GP
