The fact Muslims *might* make up a large percent of UK prisons is an issue that UK as a society has to deal with. I could go in to detail why I think that is the issue, but that is for a different thread and I for one have given up on them on the net.

Good points. I made my post on the first page of this thread, so I had no chance to see the "follow-up". And as for the problem with muslim immigration, It has NEVER worked, anywhere in the world, it cant always be the problem of the country that receives the immigrants. The fact is, that the immigrants are the problem. I can give you similar statistics of several European countries, and in each one, immigrants are not a minority in the crime statistics.

Not trying to nit pick but wouldn't Italians or the Irish have been a better choice than African-Americans? I mean, it's not like the majority of the African-American population emigrated willfully. I get the parallel in high rate of reported crime, but I think the original point you were arguing was how an immigrant class should not be able to bitch, especially one with such a high crime rate.

Well you must not have heard of a little country called the United States. We are one built only on immigrants. First it was the Spanish, then the Dutch, English and French. And after they where done, we started to get a flood of Irish and Italians who, heaven forbid, where Catholic! And once we got done with them, the Pols started showing and others from Eastern Europe. At the same time we had Chinese started to show up on our west coast and so on. So immigrations as a whole does work.

As for your argument about "Muslim Immigration" does not work, what is your idea of it working? In my earlier paragraph I mention Catholics because for a long time we in the US thought Catholic immigration would not work, I mean look how bad it was going in England... And at that time people could point to the large number of Irish in jail, or the Italians in the mobs as evidence. But down the road it seem to work out.

Well I can change it to illegal Mexicans that come in to the US and commit crime. But for those that *legally* emigrated, it does not make a difference to me. The idea of the "mixing pot" that is the US does not draw a difference. While a lot of people might hold on to there "Irish" or "Italian" background most I think would consider themselves as just Americans, and, even newly immigrants who become US Citizen do as well. That is the major difference between Europe and the US, while we put our barrier to become a US Citizen or even come here very high, when you get here you become part of the society as a whole (minus the pockets of racism/prejudices) while Europe seems to welcome a lot more but they ended up being shunned by society as a whole. This is a simplification, and I could more in to detail like how the quality of immigrants make a big difference and how the welfare state helps that problem as well but that is going way off topic. The US was setup as an immigrant country, we almost killed off the local population and still do this day they lives on Federal property as part of a treaty.
