good enough reason to drop the bomb alone

too many people think that it was a bad thing base only on the fact that it killed people boo hoo there were much farther reaching ramifications that helped millions

Sorry for being pedantic, but Jefferson did not write The National Constitution he was actually against it.

Anyway, I don't think banning guns will lower the crime rate. Switzerland has a very heavily armed populace, and I have never heard of them having an issue with crime (you aren't going to rob a bank when everyone in there has an uzi).

Anyway here is my thesis: D.C. has no right to infringe against the ultimate law of the land (The Constitution) period. You can't just pick and choose which laws you want to follow.

I agree with you and you are being pedantic all the founding fathers were gun right supporters.

I really think that the constitution leaves enough room for interpretation and states narrowing with specific laws. Would it be illegal and unconstitutional for the district to say you can not own guns, yes. Is it unconstitutional that they require gun locks, no. Regulation on guns follows the same rules of freedom of speech in regards to fcc regulation and in production of assault weapons and machine guns.

While the Japanese were not forced to depose their Emperor, they WERE forced to accept US occupation and mandates for an indefinite period of time, which they were NOT willing to accept prior to the Nagasaki bombing.

^ As I understand it there were two key reasons for the Bombing - the first one has already been mentioned - in essence they accepted unconditional surrender. But the second was that the US wanted to show the USSR the power of the Atomic Bomb and attempted to use it in the Pottsdam conference - they were not to know that Soviet spys had been keeping Starlin well informed as to the nature, purpose and technical detail of the Atomic Bomb - so the demonstration went a little flat for that purpose.

About Hirohito, from Wiki: "While Emperor Shōwa was usually seen abroad as a head of state, there is still a broad dispute about whether he became a common citizen or retained special status related to his religious offices and participations in Shinto and Buddhist calendar rituals. Many scholars claim that today's tennō (usually translated Emperor of Japan in English) is not an emperor. See the Emperor of Japan article for discussion of the position of Emperor of Japan."

Of course. The problem, however, with banning firearms in the US now is that there are already so many here, legal and illegal. Say the gov't somehow, magically managed to round up all the firearms. Then we'd still have weapons coming through our porous borders; weapons that would only wind up in criminals hands.

If they banned all guns in some moronic display of government interference and overstepping a cottage industry of making zip guns and even more advanced gun smithing operations would crop up. Probation is not the correct answer to anything look at what has happened with drugs. Google one of my personal role models William F. Buckley on the topic of drugs
