Default Weather Channel founder wants to sue Al Gore

http://www.citizensugar.com/1093812

Quote:
John Coleman wants to sue Al Gore for fraud. Coleman, who founded the Weather Channel in 1982, thinks taking legal action against Al Gore would be a great "vehicle to finally put some light on the fraud of global warming." Coleman rejects the notion that people must take drastic actions to reduce their energy use.
http://images.teamsugar.com/files/upl0/19/193328/10_2008/79159812.preview.jpg
Speaking at the 2008 International Conference on Climate Change on Monday, Coleman sharply chastised those who further global warming alarmism. Coleman believes that the station he founded has been captured by alarmists, such as the Weather Channel’s Heidi Cullen, who has advocated revoking the license of meteorologists that believe global warming can be explained by cyclical weather patterns and not human activity.
The majority of the scientific community seems to agree that humans are contributing to climate change. Do you think there's any merit to raising concerns about global alarmism? Would a lawsuit against Al Gore help the public determine fact from fiction?

I agree with the weather channel founder, I think about how much money people have made off the whole "zomg where all going to die unless you buy green" and am somewhat cynical about the real impact we're having on the environment

I hope he does find some sort of legal grounds to sue Gore on. It would seem to me that the guy who started the Weather Channel would be more versed on climate change than a politician looking for a new soapbox to stand on.

In any case this global-warming-alarmist shit has got to stop; people are losing it.

Even if legal action can't be taken against Mr. Gore this should give some much-needed publicity against the eco-maniacs. I'm not saying we should all go out of our way to pollute the planet, but constantly hearing about how humans are destroying the environment is annoying and just plain wrong. Once again, a natural climate change doesn't make for good news stories so that's why so many are jumping on the ecomentalist bandwagon.

I would go so far as to say it isn't happening. Data shows that ocean temperatures in several places around the world are increasing more than they should be. But to place so much blame on human activity is just foolish. People just want something to complain about and nobody will listen if they go on about natural causes.

More than they should be? According to who, exactly? Is there a rule book on this?

Seriously, who is to say what the climate "should" be doing? We don't even know what it is doing now or why.

Some research I've seen shows that the temperatures are increasing more than they have during past warming cycles. It would be foolish to think that humans haven't had any impact whatsoever. But to think that the globe will cool down just because we start driving eco-friendly slowmobiles (or any of the other nonsense a lot of people are suggesting) is just stupid. Personally I think the sun's increased activity has more to do with it than anything else. The problem is that our climate is affected by so many things its hard to pinpoint what's causing the higher temperatures.

The interesting thing about suing Al Gore would be that it would essentially come down to presenting all evidence in favor of global warming - I mean, climate change - and then all of the evidence against, and then making a finding of law based on what is presented. Science turn legal theory!

Exactly. The only reason mr. Bore keeps this thing up, is that everytime he stands on one of the said soapboxes, ge gets a million and a bit dollars. With ever increasing claims about the causes and severity of global warming, all his income does is increase. I know this is a bad thing to say, but I would be glad if Al Gore DIED.images/smilies/mad.gif Especially I'd like to see him get eaten by a polar bear, since he thinks they are already pretty much extinct.

Things are bad. The planet is heating up, the polar ice is melting, global warming is setting in.

Oh, wait, that's Mars.

We had a discussion on this in my political science class this week. My professor read a study somewhere he said that recently found that the polar ice caps were actually expanding. I did a brief search for it but couldn't find much, I'm thinking of e-mailing him asking where he got that information from.

Zing! That would be ironic.

How about we ship him to the North Pole without any way-below-zero clothing or equipment? Afterall, it's apparently all melting...

Forget suing him. Forget sending him to the North Pole. I want him to shovel the 10 inches of snow we're supposed to be getting in the next 24 hours.

I want people to be scared into believing GW is true, regardless whether it is or not. I think the potential sales of 'green' shit is great; some of the greatest PR imagineable. Scare people into buying more crap.
