I've read that before, wasn't sure who said it. Thank you, it is going to my favorites quotes in another thread.

You vote for a man, then that man goes to a room, with other men, and they vote for the president.

That means, that it doesn't matter if you win by 51% in a state, the other party gets ZERO points. Even though 49% is quite a large number. Winner takes it all.

You get my point. If you'd just vote, count the votes, then put the numbers up against each other, you'd get an acurate number.

Oh really? Because we elect a parliament, and just look at the largest coalition/party to find the Prime Minister and Cabinet?

It's easy, I suggest you try it.

I'll cry for this country when we become like Norway. You all are just a bit too soft for my tastes.

Why is it soft to give the power to the majority in a democracy?

We did in a way, we elected an all Republican House and Senate, and then a Republican President. Just saying i would rather be able to elect my leader rather than have a few back room deals to select THE MAN.

yea that 'elect largest party' system is flawed because that assumes that everyone in the party is for the official to b elected. just like there are republicans who dont l;ike bush its a mixture of the party and the person.

Yes, that is true, we don't murder people and we don't give you a gun if you don't need it to anything.

Anyway, Sweden is worse when it comes to self defense. If you are confronted by someone with a gun, you might urge them to put down the gun. If they don't you can treathen them with a gun, saying you are going to shoot. If this doesn't work, you can repeat the order to put down the gun, and if this doesn't work, you take his gun and call the police while asking him kindly to stay and wait for the police to arrive.

I am a ferm believer in self defense, though.
