Or because the world's a bit like the school yard. The biggest, least clever boy, allways rule the school yard.

but yes, let's move on to the stars, drop walmarts and mcdonalds(pork free of course) into the middle east, put a fence around the south and sell everyone our mysterious space juice. |

parts of FL can stay, but the rest has to go. NASA has been so bloated and inefficient for so long it's time to start over. Plus we have space command, the space warfare center and various aerospace companies here.
Texas doesn't necessarily have to go along with the rest of the south, they can do thier own thing, but they can't come along. |

yes they've done well, but they could do much, much, much better. NASA is run by pie in the sky scientists, which is fine for pure science, but the pace at which they get things done is quite slow.

If California was on its own it would have the 7th largest economy in the world with a "GDP" of $1,621,843,000,000.

Yeah but the cost of living in California is higher than other places. It's almost like the economy there is on a different scale.

we can keep the money and get rid of the people.
I'm not talking about just going fast, I'm talking about being efficient. NASA needs a serious overhaul. even so, you completely missed the point of my joke, but whatever. |

I just don't think people realize how hard NASA's job is. Going into space is not easy, if it was it would not cost millions.

I realize that it's hard, but you can't help but look at how much faster military and private sector projects move, and it's not like they're building cessnas or anything.
I think the main problem is the people running NASA are pure scientists, not engineers or practical people. They constantly want to reinvent the wheel for each project and many times project goals and returns don't have a lot of application back home. I think that if more practical results were expected of NASA things could move a lot faster, but post space-race our progress has been bit by bit by bit. |
