Ok how bout we go a little more into reality at least legal ideas Comcast links the camera to advertisers and they send you more junk mail.

Come on people have been crying the sky is falling for too long. Simple idea: just don't get cable then. For the last two years I have done without and have found between NPR and the internet I have more than enough entertainment and my work and play have become much better.
I never said anything about blackmail or adultery. My point is that what I do in my home is my business and I don't want a camera keeping an eye on me. I don't think it's alarmist to say that a major company (and a notoriously unscrupulous one at that) should not have cameras in my home.

The fact is that nothing I said is that far fetched - because it's already happening. Sure, right now most those consumer profiles are "anonymous" and not linked with one's name or with each other. That's my fear, that some day companies that gather that information will start talking to each other. They already do, but do so without specifics. If any two of them started including a name or other individual identifying information you can say goodbye to any sense of privacy you once had.

There's a reason I don't use my real name online. There is exactly one place that someone could put my screen name together with my real name - and for personal reasons I won't edit that particular bit of information. Call me paranoid if you want, but I like the fact that if you Google my real name there is one hit - a name on a list from my graduating class in college.

I don't understand how you can not be concerned about privacy.

What is private what is public when I go to the grocery store there are hundreds of people around me, anyone of them could know me and tell others that I like to eat nature valley bars.

The fact is what you buy with credit cards is not private you are in a relationship with that creditor. They have a right to know if you are buying groceries or cars with their card. Same with Comcast you are a customer using their product, services and bandwidth.

Let me give you this analogy: You rent space in a local office park, and have pony play party's in the office during the day. This comes to the attention of the office park management and they evict you. Although your pony play is not illegal you are not allowed actions that would denigrate the office parks name. The same rules are in play here Comcast can limit your access to the internet as so you are not looking at kiddie porn or downloading music because you are only renting the bandwidth. Comcast can put cameras into its cable box because you are only renting it and when canceling your cable they will gladly give you back your deposit.

Now your point of what you do in your house is your business (well to some extent obviously with in the law and zoning regulations) you may or may not want to bring specific products into your house.

That is the dumbest thing I have heard in months.

Seriously, "you are renting bandwidth so Comcast has the right to put a camera in your bedroom/livingroom?" In a debate you need to have at least a partially defensible position - this is an example of "Go back and do it again."

You are paying for bandwidth and the equipment to access the Comcast service - you are NOT paying for Comcast to put a camera in your house. One has nothing to do with the other. The camera is not there to make sure you don't illegally use their services, that's the dumbest thing you have ever said and Comcast does not claim the camera is to monitor for illegal activity. I don't know from what bodily orifice that sprung, but you better cram it right back in there.
