umm.. Yes they have? Every single W124 sedan/coupe from 1993-1996 came from the factory with those taillights.

Those two Mercs are the perfect W124:s. The monoblocks needn't be quite so big, but otherwise spot-on.

I must agree with the finns, those smoked rear lights are sexy.

I was going to write a lengthy post about this, but no matter how I put it, it comes out provocative or offensive.

Suffice it to say my vote goes against putting those wheels on ordinary Mercs... Now more than ever, as more and more kiddies put those wheels on their cars, usually excessively large ones too.

Of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion. And mine, which is the correct one, is that monoblocks are sexy as hell. I think we are all agreed on that. They look good.

More debatable, is that is it acceptable to put those wheels on a non-amg Mercedes. Certainly a lot of hideous, scruffy tuning mercs have oversized monoblocks on them, but IMO it doesn't make them any worse. Just look at the amount of BBS wheels on BMW's..images/smilies/smile.gif

I guess the general consensus is that pikeyness is what everybody should avoid when dealing with '80s Mercs. What that means, is up for anybody to decide; for me, it's a drooping back end and stains around the fuel filler cap, not necessarily the choice of wheels.

I cringe at the thought of young Mercedes drivers becoming like that.

On W123, W126, W116's- W208 CLK320 wheels (16" alloys) look awesome. They're also the lightest OEM MB wheel. They're not too hard to come by and sell for around $200-$500. Just make sure that the car is not German taxi yellow, or it'll look like trash. Petrol blue is my preference images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Congrats!

Looks really nice in the photos, paint still looks excellent for a 17 year old car with ~250ks on it. Makes me jealous of your folding rear headrests and non-blue interior images/smilies/tongue.gif

Really nice Mercedes! Some say that the W124 was over-engineered in many ways, but i love it. My parents have a 250D with they bought when it had 95k km on the clock, and it have now rolled over 450k and it still feels like the day they bought it. Superb cars, take good care of yours!

by hand? my dad's volvo has electronic folding headrests too, but they only go down electronically so you need to move them up manually.

Yes that's it, at least if those are the "accessory #430" headrests like mine.

Nice car! This forum needs more pre-94 Merc owners! Now go and enjoy driving this beautiful machine. IT's slightly more boat-like than the 190E, but it's handling is still a lot better than what you'd expect from a car like that. Have fun with it. Worry about cosmetics later.
