Default Alfa Romeo GTV 116 3.0 - Total Restoration & Rebuilding

I am now gladly presenting my new project page of my car.
Earlier my project has only been on the Norwegian language and on normal forums. But after some technical problems it all went lost.

But now i am back and this time i took the opportunity to convert everything into English as well. But the biggest improvement this time is that i made an entirely new and more clean page, so that its easier for new persons to check out my project, in a more organized way.

And by doing this its much easier to discuss more in here without interfering and making a mess about the project. So i ask to have the discussions in here and not in my guest book that are for more minor messages.

Very cool, but it takes me a while to get to know what the pictures are about, they are zoomed in too much.

But yes what picture do you referred to? you can discuss anything inside here images/smilies/smile.gif i will gladly explain everything images/smilies/smile.gif

More will come. Im working on making the roll cage. But there are some difficulties with making the cage from 6 to 8 points. It may come in contact with the wheel. So to be sure of that it doesn't get in contact i need to rebuild the front suspension on one of the side. So that i can see how it will be. So there will come an update on both subjects soon. But first i need to paint some of the parts. And to paint them i need to clean up the garage. It just looks like a mess right now images/smilies/blink.gif images/smilies/cry.gif

Well I had plans of getting the racing cheer, harnesses and the mounting points this week, so that I could get the car done and get it over to sandblasting and then to painting. But that doesn’t happen this week, the Italians (OMP people) had gone on holiday so my seat isn’t done yet, what I have heard it takes 10 days to make 1 cheer! images/smilies/biggrin.gif So now it seem like I won’t get my seat before earliest 24 July.

But I have done something else. I have welded every joint in the front so I think the front is stiff enough now. And I have got some more equipment, so that I can continue painting all the parts that I have lying around.

The plan is to do as litle as possible to this 3.0V6 12v just put it in so that i can drive.

But the plan is then as soon as possible after everything is done to start on a engine project. Where i will use a 3.0V6 24v istead of 12v and make that engine sick, maybe use a 3.2GTA engine. I really don't bother if i get less effect with carbs than with injection im going to do it for the sound! So its going to have carbs... 8)

here you have a engine that looks like the one that i will go for...

Yeah it looks good. That one has been made to an 3.5 liters and it makes around 330HP, not bad without turbo or anything.
I will maybe aim for around 350-400hp we will see when the time comes. For now i need to get the car itself done images/smilies/lol.gif

I had a customer who imported a South African built 3litre GTV6 with a motor done by AHM in the UK. The thing went like stink.

Are you useing the closer ratio Alfa Romeo 75 Twinspark gearbox or just the normal transaxel?

We just finished rebuilding a 147GTA at work after the motor went bang (the car kinda drove into the ocean and the motor hydraulic locked breaking two rods) Nice motor.

(Sorry Alfa Romeo nutcase here)

Well don't know what you mean about using a 75 gearbox or a normal transaxel gearbox, because they are all the same, the only different is the ratio of the gears inside and that some have limited slip diff.
But for now i am going to use the 3 liter gearbox from the 75 but i will probably change stuff later. the 3 liter gearbox and the 2 liter gearbox has the same gear ratio but have different final drive ratio. So i may change just that final drive later.

But for this stage i will consentrate on getting a right balanced car with good suspension and brakes and so on. And then work out an engine later on, since building an engine cost around the same as the whole car.

It looks like i will get some parts soon 8)

For your own safety do not neglect the brakes or tyres. Especially if you up the power significantly.
