Default Dear, sweet jesus. 1995 BMW E34 530i..

I never though I'd see the day. It's damn well perfect, sitting in a garage over the past 4 years for most of the time. 108,000km - drives like new. It's one hell of a special car. It's got the 3.0L version of the M60 - it ain't no LS1, but it's silky smooth and it can still go like the clappers. It's got the ZF 5 speed auto, which is just as smooth as the engine. Steering is what I will now consider perfection until something else proves me wrong. It's really well weighted without feeling cumbersome and big. It feels quite small and sharp!

It was my neighbours car, if I didn't get this I was going to looking at Holden VT Commodore Executives with spartan boring interiors with a-seveteny-billion kilometers and warn out this and faded out that..

I have BMW fever.

Oh, and those wondering about my Bluebird, or 'Bluey', he's being demoted to the lesser Doggy and hack about position. He'll still have a place in my heart, but I've already moved on..

I'm off to pinch myself. I still don't believe it. Tomorrow is cleaning and detailing..

Congrats

Looks like a really sweet car.

Only minus is the auto, but that's a matter of preference I guess

Good luck with it. With that kind of milage it should bring you many happy miles/km's

Beautiful car you've got, always had a soft spot for the E34. Lovely smooth I6.

Congrats James, that's one hell of a jump up from the BB.

Now make another one of those documentaries, but just with you driving around in the car and occasionally looking at the camera. don't say anything, you'll drown out the engine noise.

Bloody hell, it almost looks factory fresh.

It's got the V8

Now only bad part about the car. Currently, the average fuel consumption on the trip computer says 14.2L/100km. BUT, I'm guessing that in it's recent life it's only been going on small trips, and the Oxygen sensors need to be replaced.. I hope! But even if it does get that, so worth it.

And the vulgar business of money.. $8,750AUD. Most on the internet are in the mid-$10k bracket with more kilometers, so I consider myself very lucky.. my neighbor was going to trade it in and they were offering her $8k.

@M3lover I would prefer a manual actually, but the auto is so smooth, it makes up for it. Sports mode is really good, though!

^ Just read up on that, interesting how they make a V8 that small. We're all used to them being over 4-litres.

A V8 that small is completely pointless. They could have easily got the same power from 6 cylinders. It just wastes more fuel.

The E39 530i (with the straight-6) is more powerful and torquier, but still uses a considerably less amount of fuel.

Nice car anyway. Very good condition.

Who would have guessed? A newer engine is better?

1995 and only 108,000kms AND its a Bimmer AND its only $9000. Your an absolute winner, look after her!

That leather looks in like-new condition condition. Well the rear seats, anyway. Difficult to find on a car over 10-years old! This car sure as hell beats VT Commodore...

I am sooooooo jealous !!! I'm a huge fan of the E34 5-series and have been looking for ages for the right one (preferrably a 540i manual) to get myself. They tend to have too many miles on them though.....but yours is a great example and the M60 V8 engine is very good if not quite as powerful as it could be.

Very nice find, but what will become of the Nissan?

Explain to me how 'less cylinders = less fuel consumption' for the same displacement?
