They started selling them over here in 1993, actually. Like you said, they all have the wider kindeys. Looks much cooler, in my opinion.

@phas3r extremely smooth! Now I know why people complain about pushrod V8s!
@NooDle I know.. I never thought I would either! But times are a changin'..

^You famously called your Bluebird "rewarding to drive". Question: How is the BMW compared to that?

Hell, flinging that bastard around while only going 20km/h was just too much fun! It felt very communicative, so it was very rewarding to me, mainly because you feel like you're doing everything. But this is rewarding in a completely different sense. "Oh look, that Magna is going 40km/h". So I overtake it. "I think I want to change lanes..", so I click sports mode, it instantly shifts down and gets me away from the pack of traffic. It's rewarding in the way that if I wanted to push it, it would stay sure footed, and it would really, really stick it's hands down my pants. I get a rush of adrenaline just by taking off fast.

The Bluebird is loose, slow, stodgy and damp compared to the BMW. The BMW obviously has to be treated with respect, coming from that, I can fling and thrash the nuts of the Bluebird til the cows come home. I mean, I wouldn't get anywhere fast, but it's still hilariously entertaining.

But worlds apart.

...I know, it's a silly piece of shit that car, but I still love it.

I just noticed the change to your 'car' slot - boy I'm slow atm.

Congrats mate, that's one beauty you've got there. Lucky South Aussies and your lack of stupid car restrictions! Enjoy it!

Wow. This one left my jaw hanging.

Around here the E34:s are mostly driven by boy racers or the .. uhh racially challenged, which directly or indirectly results in them being horridly corroded, or having broken taillights, drooping suspension, rumbling exhausts and cheap ill-fitted custom rims. So every time I see one of these go by, a wave of disgust passes through me. And not because of the car itself, but because of the driver's blatant disregard for the dignity and automotive excellence which is the 5-series.

If I'd see this pass by, I'd feel complete again. The sun would shine brighter and the skies would be deeper in blue. Music would play in my ears in a harmonious tune of a thousand symphonies and all my worries would be lifted. To witness someone having taken the time and effort to value such a work of art, which this clearly is, would certainly hit me with such a force that would make me praise all E34-drivers to high heavens each waking morning.

So anyway, congrats on your purchase.

That is one sweet ride. I'm so jealous......

Seems to me even none-///M bigger BMW saloons eventually become classics: E38 (non-ugly seven series), E39 (previous 5 series).

OT and on a side note, I'm even starting to like the look of the E36 M3 coupé.

We've got bogans in domestics filling that role for us and more recently ricers have been helping the team along.

Really good looking car! Congrats!

However, I never liked the facelifted E34, I think the original grille looks better.

If you haven't, consider chipping the car. From the US specs, you gain 23BHP/23lb-ft torque along with bumping the rev limiter to 7000, and removing the flat spots at 5500+. A great deal for $250-ish.

Finally convinced my friend to clean his E34 535i... He's had it for about a month and hadn't even cleaned the inside, which is filthy! Maybe I'm just fussy... His ain't running too good, struggles to start most of the time. Needs a good service and the seals are letting in wind noise. Nice and silent over on my side.

He's got the shitty wanker bodykit version, I have the nice, clean, well driving version Like I said, I want E39 M5 wheels like on that one. I thought his wheels were shadow chrome before, turns out it was just brake dust... His has done 250,000km, with the 4 speed auto. It's dead in the low range.

I need to buy a decent point-and-shoot. Video cameras make for shitty makeshift still cameras.

Nice car.

I'd consider these wheels. They came on the 540i M Sport package. I've only ever seen one BMW with those wheels, and it is a black E34 540i and it looks awesome.
