Oh no, I got the joke, but it's reached the stage where it isn't funny anymore (not the joke - the finance shit).

I've driven plenty of Kangoos, from the Kangoo Edition La Poste du Suédoise (yes, that was its name), RHD 1.6 petrol with 4-speed autobox to the more standard diesels and it's quite capable for it's size but they have some quirks, mainly that all the electrics and the engines and gearboxes would stop working quite often
![]() Alas all the Postal service Kangoos will shortly be replaced by this

At least you have a car that you can drive more than twice a week.

^ It is quite fun being the taxi-service for my parents. Amusingly I actually enjoy it, but I can see how it may wear off on some people/on me after a while. But I suppose it is nice to have something I can borrow for a party (this Saturday) etc.

Driving is fun! Even if it's just getting about. Alright, traffic jams are not fun but then you're not really driving anymore either...

So I've just returned home from my holiday on the Isle Of Man, and I must say it is a place I shall seriously consider later on in life. The Kangoo; maybe not.
However two pictures that I think came out best. At the Calf Of Man. ![]() I had to. A great road this one. Goes nowhere = no-one on it. Really great to chuck it about, even if it rolled about more than a football.

Can you say bump?
![]() Anyway, slight update. The Kangoo still lives, but may live for longer now. Despite the fact a few more knocks and rumbles have appeared, it is still going strong, and will now have a bit of weight lifted off its feet. After two years we have a second car again, so the Kangoo will be left at home for long journeys and will go back to just taking mum to work. The car we have is a P reg Volvo V40 1.9TD SE. Its borrowed from my grandparents, so we only have it for a month. It'll be taking my dad to work (now that he finally has a job) until we get something else. I'm not on the insurance of the Volvo (and haven't driven it yet, but I may do), and may not be on the next cars', depending on the car, and how nice my parents are feeling . But its back to car shopping after a (rather poorly placed) week off in Devon. Some nice roads down there - different to the Isle Of Man; these flow much better, and have hedges right next to the road, and occasionally squeeze down to a single lane, meaning to have to be alert as to any oncoming traffic. And driving at night can be fun too, because while you can tell when a car is coming in the other direction (you can see the lights on the hedges round corners etc), the road springs surprises on you, as you can't see what is coming up. Good stuff. A picture of the Kangoo for those who miss it. On my uncle's farm. ![]() I did a lot of editing on that photo (lighting and stuff), and am proud of it.

So, do deliveries much?
![]() Honestly though, congratulations! Often times it's not what you drive, it's how you drive it. Speaking of Nürburgring, Top Gear DID manage to push a Ford Transit around the track in just over 10 minutes, so... What the hey.
And what is it with Great Britain and car insurance, btw? Are cars really stolen and/or banged up that much? Or is it some silly tax policy?

^ No its just the premiums for young guys behind the wheel. We have checked this out, and it really is the case of what was told on Topgear. We tested it out with a random car, adding my parents then me: £1300 (per year). Change my sex to 'Female'; same age etc: £700. Cost of parents alone without me: £200.
It goes down (by about £150) every year for the first few years until about the age of 25, where the insurance levels out, and you can rent cars etc. (Some places may rent you wheels at 21, but most wait until 25). Its not really a case of getting stolen - its the number of crashes that involve men between the aged 17-25. Or put more simply; chavs. Because we have so many of them (and just general idiots on the road) in this country. Because there is no way you can segregate a certain type of people, the lot of us get done for it. Insurance costs aren't actually that high in the UK; once you get into proper full adulthood. As a 'young man', I'm not liked by society for a good few years yet. |

^ While it isn't mine, I will be able to use it a bit more now that we have two cars, which is good (may even be able to have it in a photoshoot somewhere! Most pointless photoshoot ever? Meh; as much as I hate it, I have grown slightly attached to it, considering we've had it since I was seven). And working six days a week in the holidays is fine, providing there is someone who will employ you.
