Um, nice pedobear.

Can't wait to see final pics. Are you going to whiten the wheels in the near future as well?

The close up shot of the front wing makes it look very bumpy and uneven, but it's the lighting and rust treatment stuff messing with the camera(phone). It's not silky smooth, but good enough for some filler & paint. Also bought a full exhaust from a friend for a grand price of 1.20€ images/smilies/tongue.gif It's rusted in two, but luckily the parts that are blown in my car are in really nice condition images/smilies/smile.gif

I'll most likely proceed with the filler/primer tomorrow, will post pics.
This is cool, my mother had an XR4TI in red. according to my father who was selling those at the time, it was the first one in florida. very cool. congrats!

Thanks images/smilies/smile.gif

I doubt I will be painting the rims white, one of them is bent and can't be balanced properly, so I'm just going to keep them as is for the time being.

EDIT: Reserved an MOT check tomorrow at 14:45 (or 2:45 PM for you yanks) Cross all of your fingers and wish me luck, not feeling very confident images/smilies/smile.gif

Test fitted the grille today, as visible in the pictures it's nowhere near perfect. the passenger side is quite alright, but on the drivers side things are fucked up. The grille is sitting a few cm proud of the headlight, and fully connected, it sticks out at the bottom. It's fiberglass, so it's quite bendable, and I think I can get it to fit well enough images/smilies/smile.gif The paint of the car / the grille looks quite different in the pics, but the car paint will buff up to a close enough colour. Infact, I haven't properly washed the car for 2 months, so no wonder the old paint looks a bit off images/smilies/smile.gif I'm on a budget here, so no professional resprays images/smilies/smile.gif Also notice the new bumper/headlight images/smilies/smile.gif

Test fitting:
http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/2082/kuva027.jpg

The towbar assembly I took off, weighs well over 20kg..

Old vs. New
http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/4940/kuva029j.jpg

What yo9u can't see in the last pic due to the crap camera(phone) are all the stone chips on the old panel, it looks like shit when compared to the new one.

EDIT: just put final touches of underseal on the sills/bottom of the car and fixed some grounding issues with the rear lights, MOT here I come! images/smilies/smile.gif
EDIT2: Resoldered all the speaker wires, but I still get rattles from the right channel speakers, I hope it's not the stereo, need to borrow some speakers to see where the problem is..

Looks good if you get the gaps worked out. Good luck on the MOT....

Will you be transferring the Ford badge over, or leaving it debadged?

I'll transfer the badge over or buy a new one. It's still on the old one, since I need to bend the new panel a bit, put some clearcoat on it, and buff up the whole car. For now I'm using the stock panel still.

Failed the MOT. images/smilies/cry.gif

Failed emissions (too much O2 at idle). I just put in a new exhaust, so I,m hoping that it's just a manifold leak or something.. All the emissions apart from O2 content were excellent, which was a surprise..
Also the inspector was being a prick and said my windscreen has too many scratches, so I need to change that aswell, which really pisses me off, because a new windshield is going to cost hundreds.images/smilies/mad.gif Can anyone recommend a good way of removing scratches from a windshield? images/smilies/sad.gif

Good thing is that there was hardly any rust on the car, but I'm still not happy with how things went images/smilies/sad.gif

You should get a used-but-not-scratched windscreen for less than a hundred bucks, if you tour enough scrapyards.

lolwut

Too many scratches? I'd find a different inspector. When I had my 240SX first inspected, they cited all sorts of little things like the brake line covers being "a little cracked", among other things. Took it to another shop, and they passed it right there.

Im going to try and buff the current one out first. Im just really pissed off because it's not really too bad.. I could tell straight off that the inspector WANTED my car to fail :~\ Must be the tinted windows, lowered suspension, etc.

What I really hated was the fact that he checked the windscreen and said that it's barely passable, then 5 minutes later said that it's too scratched..images/smilies/dry.gif

Im going to take a look at the exhaust today or tomorrow, and buy a polisher for the windscreen..

About the MOT: It's always a shame when you get failed at the inspection. And old cars like yours are just prey for dicky inspectors; they practically wait for one to come by so they can beat it with a hammer and point out imperfections. Of course, a scratched windscreen is terrible in direct sunlight, but in a 500 euro car you can probably do without a factory-fresh one.

Also, emission test results are sometimes pure witchcraft.

Why is too much oxygen a bad thing? That just doesn't make any sense.

I'm convinced that the machines just generate the numbers at random, its witchcraft.

Started taking the manifold off, I'll update this post with some high res pics in a few minutes (need to upload them). Once my father gets home, Im going to convince him to go and buy a polishing machine while I finish off the exhaust sealing. Oh, and public, I think my Sierra might rival you in the rust department, its completely rust-free apart from a tiny bit of surface rust on a few rear suspension components images/smilies/tongue.gif

EDIT: Uploading 35 megs of very high res pictures images/smilies/smile.gif

Spraying underseal around doesn't make it rust-free images/smilies/wink.gif

Nah, it's probably good, if it's not originally from the South. Can't tell from the plate.. unless it's the original B-registration and it's from the capital region? In that case, having no significant rust is a miracle.

Bai-755 is not the original licence plate, it was re-regsitered sometime around 2006.

The manifold is off now, seals looked quite ok, going to replace them anyway since its only a few €.. I did, however spot some condensed water where the downpipe meets the exhaust, which indicates a leak, which could very well be the cause of the car failing emissions images/smilies/smile.gif

I've got one spare drivers side headlight images/smilies/smile.gif It's letting in a bit of water, but a reseal would probably fix that.

As is said, the exhaust manifold is off, and I don't think it was leaking. I've lost the exhaust manifold gaskets that I bought a few weeks ago, so I'll refit it with new ones tomorrow. I'm also going to buy exhaust sealant to make the damn thing 100% leak-free. When I'm done with this, I want NO exhaust LEAKS.images/smilies/mad.gif

Looking good. The interior seems like it's in good condition for its age. Sorry about the MOT.
