Mmm, speedy.. 1985 Nissan Bluebird GXE (56k make a sammich!)

Whatduya-think, aye? Not bad for $1000. Done 144,000km, everything is still tight and running well. Hasn't missed a beat at all, I have ultimate respect for this car, it's never broken down one.

Engine was reconditioned about 5 years ago. Could do with a bit more power though. Well, it could do with a LOT more power. 0-100km/h in double digits isn't glamorous people! Although, the engine makes a sweet whining noise when you get up higher in the rev range, LIKE ITS SUPERCHARGED! No power steering makes parking fun, too.

Interior is pretty clean, i'll take some pictures of it's mighty yellow-ly beige-ness later.

It's like a old whiffy dog, you know? He's not glamorous, not fast, not sporty but he keeps on going!

does whiffy dog also mean it smells?

that 3 speed auto won't be doing you any favours, but otherwise looks quite solid for a 22 year old car.

You know I do believe it just might be possible to shoehorn a small block in that thing, or at the very least a supercharged 3800. And I've never seen a car with a drinking straw for a tail pipe.

Actually, there are Bluebirds around with the non-supercharged version of the Buick V6! (One in the Holden Commodore) It'd be (just as) easy to shoehorn the later Supercharged version from the VS Commodore!

@Austere haha, too true! I guess anything with 4 wheels and a steering wheel is a blessing at my age!

    Ah, er, uh, yes.

Along with the VN Commodore Executive, that's got to be one of the most unsexy cars ever.

Still, you can't kill them, they are RWD, and with enough work, it can do what the one in your sig is doing!

Well, not really! My friend has his Ps, but he doesn't have a car. I let him drive it when we need to go somewhere

Every Sunday I take the Monaro up into the hills with him = 8)

@Magnet VP looked miles better, actually I have a soft spot for the VP
@Demon_X Thanks, I'm 16. I'm planning to make the engine a bit more powerful, get some TRX wheels and maybe seats, and basically learn a bit more about cars with it.
@The_Finn easy, most common engine swap. All that you need to do is swap it, and if you use a different box you need to modify the gearbox tunnel a tiny bit and you need a slightly shorter tail shaft. Think you need to change the loom + ECU too.

Oh me gods, in many ways, your car is very simular to mine's. Both have 3 speed autos, both are boring japo boxes, but we both love em all the same. What does a "P" stand for anyways? Over here, you get an "L" when you first pass your knowledge test. Do you guys get to drive alone or does a license holder need to be with you.

... I could imagine it has something to do with residential Parking or so. Or maybe "Pupil"?

The Car, well ... hardly something to get excited about, but if it does what it´s supposed to do (that would be driving , i´d guess) then it´s fine. Sadly, we can´t all have our dreamcars ...

    P means Probationary.

First you get your L plates - L for Learner. In South Australia you have these for six months and while you have them you must be accompanied by a fully licenced driver.

Then, once you pass all your tests and what not you begin your Probationary period. At this time you can drive unaccompanied but some limits remain like a lower blood-alcohol level, speed restrictions etc.

Once enough time has elapsed you're taken off of probation and given your full licence.

Haha! If you look hard enough, you can see the faded paint.. which I tried to hide a bit

Actually, my brother had a 944 until recently. It was a bit of a dog, body was scruffy and it was really rugged to drive. 944s cost a whole lot more over here, though! Atleast $10-$12 AUD for a decent one.

80's bricks FTW! One of my brother's mates has a Bluebird, same year and all but yours looks to be in much better condition and it isn't that godawful gold colour that fades over the years to a weird pinkish beige..something.

BTW, that car's got like 2 more hp than what I'm driving atm.
