Default My 1-series 3-door

Hello,

This is my new 1-series. Only a humble 118d, but with sports seats, premium HiFi and USB/iPod connection it's perfect for me, and a nice step up from public transport.
http://forums.finalgear.com/members/mr42hh-user26350/albums/my-car/bmw-welt-the-firt-view-i-got-of-my-car-560.jpg
This was the first view I had of it in BMW Welt

Nice back view, but I'm thinking about swapping out the taillights for BMW Blacklines

http://forums.finalgear.com/members/mr42hh-user26350/albums/my-car/the-interior-a-pearlpoint-orange-cloth-leather-because-i-like-orange-stuff-and-its-rare-a-radio-professional-because-the-standard-business-radio-sucks-a-manual-a-c-because-i-dont-want-to-pay-a-560-for-the-auto-a-c-a-manual-gearbox-because-an-auto-in-a-1-series-would-be-insanely-stupid-a-heated-seats-because-its-a-great-thing-to-have-in-winter-564.jpg
The interior
•Pearlpoint Orange cloth/leather, because I like orange stuff and it's rare
•Radio Professional, because the Standard "Business" radio sucks
•manual a/c, because I don't want to pay €560 for the auto a/c
•manual gearbox, because an auto in a 1-series would be insanely stupid
•heated seats, because it's a great thing to have in winter

This is the picture the BMW Welt guy took of us with my digital camera in the exact moment when the official photographer took a picture of us - naturally we were looking at the photographer.

That car has grown on me so much. I used to dislike it when it came out, and right now it's the first car I would consider if I were to go all sensible and decided to buy a new hatch (as long as it's not coupe, still hate that one). Of course I would look at 120i, which would cost insanely much here, so I would end up in something boring and fwd images/smilies/sad.gif

We rented a 318d a week ago. It's not fast, but very economical and does just fine in just about every traffic situation. Did an average of 5,3l/100km, not slouching either. Decent car you have there.

Same for me, however when I saw the first pictures of the 3-door when it came out last year I thought.... "ummm, maybe I need one of those".
The 3-door with the optional chromeline trim just looks so right.
Regarding the fuel economy (you can see the ~39 mpg in the signature): I'm still in the "hey, I've got a new car! let's see what it can do!" phase. I did 51 mpg recently on the trip to my girlfriend (120 km away). If you keep it under 2000 rpm for most of the time it will do ~50 mpg easily.

Anyway, some more pictures:

Woah, I love that cool looking platform your car is sitting on for the "premier"! Looks like a really big event and experience!

I can't lie though - I'm not a huge fan of the 1-Series in general.

But its good you got the chromeline trim. It does make the car stand out, particularly combined with the black paint. I also like the orangey leather....very cool!

Have fun with it all!

Nice seats!! You picked a very cool color scheme. I used to dislike that car, but now i'm used to it, I envy you images/smilies/smile.gif

Especially in black it looks superb. And 1.8d, that's probably the most sensible choice.

Don't forget to post more pics!

WIN!

Nice interior! I personally would've gotten the auto a/c cause I think it looks cooler and nicer, but I LOVE that seat color, good choice! images/smilies/thumbsup.gif I'm not a huge fan of hatches, but that 1-series front is really growing on me, and I'm loving those 135i's that are popping out around my area more and more.

That place where you pick the car up is sweet! Wish they gave a crap and did something like that in the US, instead of just oh, there's your car in the parking lot, and here are your keys, and peace out, have a good day. images/smilies/dry.gif America needs more style images/smilies/cool.gif images/smilies/lol.gif

Congrats man! Have fun!

I actually like the 1er, I've always liked BMW hatchs (remember the 3-series Compact?) It looks a lot better than when it first came out. My favourite 1er is this one though:

Does yours come with the start-stop-automatic, gear indicator and airflow-flaps behind the air intake?

Found those to be very cool bits that really help economic driving.

Thanks images/smilies/wink.gif It was really no competition. Every 1er I see on the road has some shade of grey or black or.. beige. I'm so glad to have the orange.
The auto a/c would have been another 560€. I agree that it looks better, but I had set myself a limit, and there was more important stuff than auto a/c (about 7500€ of more important options).

No, it's just that BMW has a "factory delivery" program that is a very cheap way to get a tour of Europe. And they're promoting it these days, which is different.

Wait, uhm, so you can order a BMW for the American price tag (which is usually like half the European one) and you're still able to pick up the car in Munich? Why does anyone buy BMWs in the European showrooms?

I don't think they'll sell to Europeans for the American price tag, besides that you'd need to change a lot of parts to make it road legal in Europe, pay the European taxes, you wouldn't have a warranty, you have a lower speed limiter, all-season tires, no small engines....

That's an awesome way to pick up the car..It makes you feel like it's a one off :p

If I ever order a BMW I'm going to for sure ask for the European delivery just to get a peak at the F1 cars and all the other pretty things over in Munich as well as tour Europe :p
