And here are the wheels I currently have in mind images/smilies/tongue.gif I'm just wondering if the studless winter tyres are any good.
Studless tires are nice because you can powerslide all winter with practically no tire/stud wear. images/smilies/biggrin.gif Oh wait.. With studded tires you can always hear the screeching sort of noise the studs make when the slide across ice that's under the snow.

Then again my winter tires are some chinese POS tires on rusty steelies with like 5 studs each left images/smilies/smile.gif

Oh yeah, with the old 323 I used to have studded tires turned studless and I replaced them with new crap Chinese ones quite quickly; I only want to slide when I want images/smilies/lol.gif
The F's originally got 13":s on Nokians all year round, and the winter set looked quite good the last time I saw it.

Then again, the best summer tires I ever had were the de-studded WinterVikings under the Bluebird. Best squeal ever, at lowest speeds ever.

The Matkahuolto option doesn't look too cheap. I'd possibly rather drive there with something that can hold the seats. At least I'd get a road trip with pictures out of it.

Cleaned the engine bay a bit more, no real visible improvements since the main parts got so much cleaner yesterday. My gearchange squeaks and I attempted to get some gun oil in there, but apparently didn't manage to get it where it should go; the squeak persists.

Looked at the seat attachments a bit, getting the sports seats there shouldn't be too big of a hassle. The guy said that there's no point driving up there to pick the seats up, since according to him, Matkahuolto cargo should cost something like 30 euro. The door cards come off quite easily as well, so if the other ones also have wind-up windows, the swap is pretty straightforward.

Don't use gun oil for a squaking gearbox/linkage, it's far too thin. Just buy a liter of 75W90 oil, take all of the plastic crap off, remove the gearlever and lube everything well. It only costs about 15€(?) and is the 'correct' solution. Oh yeah, and make sure you don't spill the stuff, it's the worst smelling substance on earth.images/smilies/smile.gif

There's your answer images/smilies/smile.gif

EDIT: Not sure if it's your answer, I downloaded my service manual seperately, so Im not 100% sure that torrent is accurate, but worth a try surely?

EDIT2: NVM, the torrent does contain some service and repair manuals, but mostly just torque wrench specs, etc. useless stuff.

Those seem to be data sheets, at least the couple I checked. I might need to look for another torrent.

At least over here, every bigger public library has self-help manuals for all cars old enough that self-help manuals were still published. I would gladly offer to scan you one (scanning 400 pages is less than an hour work for a philosophy student) but a german manual most likely won't help you too much...

Look! It's for sale: images/smilies/smile.gif

Due to the reliability of 80's Fords, you can actually find all of the manuals for them online as torrents images/smilies/biggrin.gif Make sure you don't buy Alfamer ones, stick to Haynes, they are much better.

I thought Alfamer ones were just basically Haynes books translated to finnish... images/smilies/wacko.gif

Nice work on the Mazda BTW. images/smilies/smile.gif

A light update, I now have the daytime running lights on the bumper.

The troublesome block heater should be fixed now, I haven't tried it yet since it's been warmer outside.

No other changes, except I'm running on studded tyres w/ steelies + wheel covers now.

http://i38.tinypic.com/1zftpw7.jpg

The steelies should be black; as silver they are way too beater-ish.

So how many rallies have you run with it, since you're from Finland and all?

It's fwd. No self respecting rally driver drives a front wheel drive car images/smilies/lol.gif

EDIT: here is an example of a typical Finnish rally event:
